Mt. Hood Weather Forecast

Snow continues on Mt. Hood on and off for the next several days along with less wind than we’ve been seeing over the past few days. For Tuesday, expect snow in the morning with partly cloudy sky in the afternoon and clear sky overnight. The snow level will be about 1000′. Approximately 0.5” WV falls during the day, for 5-6” of fluffy pow; mountain temps will be in the teens. Just a trace falls overnight before the sky clears. Wind will be WNW 35-40 early, NW 40 in the afternoon (slowing lifts) and SW 10-15 after midnight.

Wednesday looks to start clear, but clouds move in by late morning. Snow starts up by 4pm. The snow level will be 0′ early, 5000′ in the afternoon, and 1500′ overnight. Interestingly, there could be a period of mixed precip or freezing rain between 4pm and 7pm as 850mb temps rise to 0-2C. That said, just 0.3” WV falls overnight, for 2-3” of new snow with perhaps 0.1” something else than snow. Wind will be SW 101-5 early, S 5-10 mid-morning, SW 30 in the afternoon, and SW 20 overnight.

Thursday starts clear. Flurries start up mid-morning and heavier snow arrives overnight. The snow level will be 1500′ all day, possibly dropping to 500′ overnight. A track of snow falls during the day. That’s followed by 0.4” WV of fluffy powder, for 4-5” overnight. Wind will be SW 20-25 all day. It appears some light snow will fall on Friday, but storm tracks and temps are still a bit up in the air for the weekend.

Gorge Wind Forecast

East wind on Tuesday morning switches to W 24-27 from Stevenson to The Dalles midday and goes light and variable overnight. Wednesday starts light and variable, but Rooster quickly picks up to E 40-55. The wind backs off overnight, giving us light and variable wind all day Thursday.

COAST, JONES, SAUVIE’S: Detailed forecast is on winter break.

Road and Mountain Biking

It’s snowy on all the trails now, and hopefully frozen. This gives you the opportunity to go mountain biking if you so choose. When the trails warm back up, they will be particularly muddy and the trail tread will be particularly prone to damage. If you’re going to do it, get out your fat bike and do it now!

Upcoming Events
