Gorge Wind Forecast

Easterlies continue to dominate the Gorge wind picture for the next few days, although there will be a brief shot of westerlies on Tuesday afternoon as a cold front swings through. Tuesday starts with easterlies at 10-15 near Stevenson and 15-20 near Rooster. The wind quickly switches to westerly a couple hours after sunrise. Peak wind rises to 17-21 from Stevenson to Mosier and then backs of to 13-16 in the afternoon, filling in to The Dalles. River flow is 43,000cfs and temp is 51 degrees.

Wednesday starts with easterlies at 20-25 near Rooster. The wind picks up during the day, maxing out at 35-40 near Rooster, 25-30 near Stevenson, and 15-20 near Viento. Thursday starts with east wind at 40mph near Rooster Rock and 25-30 near Stevenson. It won’t stick around. Expect the wind to fade to 10-15 in the afternoon. The extended forecast suggests we will see westerlies in the low 20’s on Friday afternoon east of Mosier.

COAST, JONES, SAUVIE’S: Detailed forecast was on winter break, but it’s back because of coastal wind… Swell forecast by NWS. Wind: north coast/central coast/south coast. Tuesday: LTNE/LTV/N10-15, W swell 5′ @ 10 seconds. Wednesday: LTN/LTN/LTS, W 5′ @ 10. Thursday: S20-25/@15-20/S10-15, W 6′ @ 14.  

Hood River Weather Forecast

High clouds Tuesday morning give way to low clouds and drizzle this afternoon. Temps will be in the upper 30′ early and mid 50’s later. East wind early. West wind in the afternoon. 68% chance of rainbows. Wednesday starts with Nothing and ends partly cloudy. Temps will be near 40 early and in the mid 50’s later. East wind No rainbows. Thursday starts with Nothing and turns sunny. Temps will be in the upper 30’s early and low 50’s later. East wind. No rainbows. Road and Mountain Biking

There’s a lot of perfect dirt to ride out there, so go get some. Next trail work party is next Saturday, the 16th, meeting at Family Man at 9:30. This is the Mitchel Ridge Extravaganza, and we need all hands on deck!  

Upcoming Events

It’s Tuesday: at 6am on Tuesday’s, you can do the Kaino’s coffee run in The Dalles for a free cup of coffee, or you can do Zen meditation at Trinity Natural Medicine in Hood River. At 5:15 tonight, there’s a silent hour of meditation at Yoga Samadhi, and there’s guided meditation at 6:30. There’s free youth yoga at HAVEN in The Dalles at 6, and there’s Zumba Gold at the Hood River Adult Center at 6. The HRATS have a Mitchell Ridge work party next Saturday at 9:30, and the ski movie “Winterland” plays at the Ruins Saturday night, benefiting Special Olympics.
