Mt. Hood Weather Forecast

Intermittent flurries on Sunday morning give way to sunshine and then snow in the afternoon and evening. After that… it’s five days of progressively warmer sunnier weather. For Sunday, expect wind and flurries in the morning, wind and sun midday, and wind and snow overnight. The snow level will be 2000′ all day, falling to 1000′ after midnight. Just a trace of snow falls during the day. About 0.7” water values arrives overnight, for 6-8” of dry powder. Wind: WNW 35 during the day, WNW 30 in the evening, NW 25 overnight.

Monday starts with flurries, turns partly cloudy midday, and clears overnight. The snow level will be 1000′ early, 2000′ in the afternoon, and 0′ overnight. Just a trace of snow falls in that 24 hours period. Wind: NW 25 in the morning, NW 15 in the afternoon, and N 5 overnight.

Tuesday looks clear and dry. The free air freezing level will be 0′ in the morning, 2000′ in the afternoon, and 0′ after midnight. Wind: N5 early, E 15 in the afternoon, ESE 20 overnight. Repeat the dry and sunny weather for Wednesday through Friday with the freezing level rising to 6000′ or so during the day. The next chance of snow is next weekend as yet another system drops in out of the NW, the best direction for a Mt. Hood storm. Enjoy the sunshine!

Gorge Wind Forecast

Saturday’s starting off with a good setup: departing cold front and strong offshore high pressure. Morning gradients of .11 and .07 indicate a windy day on the way. Expect gusty 20-25 out east to start with gusty 16-20 in the west. The wind should pick up to 25-29 from Viento to Biggs by late morning or early afternoon. Stevenson gets sprinkles with 12-15, and Arlington looks like 15-18, but it could beat the models. River flow is 153kcfs and temp is 39 degrees.

Monday starts with 15-18 through the whole Gorge. The eastern Gorge should die off quickly. Then the west will start to fade. Afternoon wind looks like 10-13 from Stevenson to The Dalles as high pressure builds inland. Tuesday starts with light easterlies and picks up to E 20-25.

COAST, JONES, SAUVIE’S: Detailed forecast is on winter break.

Cycling

Syncline’s dirt will be good today, but it’s going to be windy there. Rumors have it that the upper regions of Post Canyon (behind the closed road gates) are also good. It’ll be windy on the road and on the gravel, but the sunshine will make up for that!

Upcoming Events
