Mt. Hood Weather Forecast

There’s nothing but sunshine in the Mt. Hood forecast for the next several days. For Saturday, it’ll be all sunny and awesome. The free air freezing level (FAF) will be 6500′ all day and 7000′ after midnight. Wind will be SW 5-10 all day and light-and-variable after midnight.

Sunday will be sunny. The FAF starts at 7000′ and ends at 9000′. Wind will be light and variable in the morning, SE 15 in the afternoon, and SE 20 after midnight. Monday looks warm and sunny. The FAF will be 9000′ all day. Wind: SE 20 all day. Tuesday’s freezing level will be around 8500′. Wind will be SE 20 all day.

A (maybe) change in the weather arrives on Wednesday with a weak weather system. The GFS brings in a wee bit of precip with the snow level around 6000′. The Euro keeps us dry. Models like the idea of a stronger system next weekend, possibly starting as rain and probably finishing with snow.

Gorge Wind

Lots of easterlies in the forecast! For Saturday, we starts with 35-40 near Rooster and 15-20 in the other locations. A midday bump at Stevenson equalizes Rooster, Stevenson, and Viento at 20-25 Saturday afternoon. River flow is 101kcfs and temp is 38 degrees. Sunday looks like 40-45 near Rooster, 30-35 near Stevenson, and 25-30 near Viento. Even the Portland metro area gets windy on Sunday. Monday morning brings 45-50 near Rooster and 35-40 near Viento. Afternoon wind backs off about 10mph at all locations. Easterlies continue on Tuesday.

Hood River Weather Forecast

It seems there is a Nothing out there this morning. It’ll burn off this afternoon, leaving us with sun. Temps will be in the low 30’s early and low 50’s later. East wind. No rainbows. Sunday starts out a few degrees warmer but looks essentially the same. Ditto for Monday, when Hood River’s high temp will reach the mid 50’s. No rainbows for the three-day period.

Road and Mountain Biking

Hi everyone! Syncline: freeze-thaw cycle. If you ride it, you’re going to damage it. I do have a report that the Moab trail is in good shape. At the very least, give the trails until this afternoon for the moisture to evaporate. Other trails are still covered in snow. That said, the road biking will be lovely the next several days with temps in the 50’s and sunny afternoons.

Upcoming Events

It’s Saturday. In theory, there’s a free bootcamp workout at Sorosis Park at 10am. There would be a trail run in Post Canyon at 8am, but Post is full of snow. Pure Yoga has a by-donation class at 10:30am. Dirty Fingers has the Cold Lap (road only) bike ride at 3pm. Tomorrow at 3pm, it’s Leprechaun-con, The Search For Stout. Dress in your best green leprechaun outfit, and join the pub crawl.
