Mt. Hood Snow Forecast

Monday morning started out windy on Mt. Hood. Snow will join the picture for the next 24 hours followed by light rain and strong wind on Tuesday The weather dries out Wednesday through Saturday morning, if nothing changes in the forecast.

For Monday, expect a stormy day. The snow level will be around 1500′ early, 3000′ in the afternoon, and 7000′ or so after midnight. About .5” water value (WV) falls during the day, for 5-6” of fluffy snow. Another .4” WV falls overnight, for another 4-5”. Wind will be W 35 early, turning to WNW 30-35 for the rest of the day.

The snow level will probably bounce around quite a bit on Tuesday, but the general model consensus seems to be an overcast morning, light rain in the afternoon, and light snow after midnight. The snow level will be 7000′ early, 6500′ in the afternoon, and 2000′ after midnight. About 1/4” rain falls during the day, followed by .2” WV mixed precip overnight for perhaps an inch of new snow. Wind will be problematic and potentially lift stopping: NW 25 early, WNW 40 by noon, and WNW 40-45 in the afternoon and overnight. It’s probably worth noting that wind that strong out of the NW may significantly increase precipitation amounts.

Wednesday starts out windy and clear, or perhaps windy with orographic flurries. It looks like the sky will clear in the afternoon. The free air freezing level will be 2000′ early, 6000′ in the afternoon, and 5000′ overnight. Wind will be NW 40-45 early (problematic), slowly fading to NW 25 in the afternoon and NNW 20 after midnight. Thursday and Friday currently looks clear or partly cloudy with the free air freezing level between 5000′ and 6500′ and NW wind at 15-20.

Random Morning Thoughts

It’s Monday morning, and as happens frequently on Mondays, I have nothing to say. I hope you have a wonderful week and an awesome day. May you be well.

Disclaimer required by my grad school program: I am not your therapist, but I am seeing clients at this time at Comprehensive Healthcare in White Salmon. In the meantime, I am your weather forecaster. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, and consult with your actual therapist about your mental health issues. One other thing: I plan to keep doing this forecast indefinitely. Forecasting and counseling are both deeply meaningful and nourishing to me.
