Good morning!

I feel like I’m missing an hour. Anyone else?

It’s snowing from about 4000’ up right now, and that’s better than expected. However, the snow level is supposed to rise to 5500’ today, rising further to 6500’ by noon before dropping to 4000’ by 7pm. We’ll see light to moderate precip before the snow level drops, for .5” water value for a couple inches of very wet snow mixed with periods of rain and then another .5” after the snow level drops for 4-6” overnight. Winds will be SSW 20-30 early, building to SW 50-60 up high by noon, going to WSW 40-50 around 8pm.

The snow level will crash overnight, hitting 2500’ by tomorrow morning. By noon it will be at 3500’, rising to 5000’ by midnight. We’ll see snow showers all day tomorrow for .25-.5” of water value and 3-5” of new snow. Winds tomorrow will be SW 35-45 early, falling to SW 25-35 midday, dropping to 15-20 late.

Tuesday still looks marginal, with the snow level at 5500’ early, 5000’ by noon and 4000’ in the evening. At this point, I think we’ll see snow starting in the wee hours with total accumulation of 1.25-1.5” of water for 8-12” of new, half of which will fall during the day and half overnight. Winds will be nice and strong, SW 40-50 early dropping to 35-40 by 11am.

Wednesday morning sees the snow level fall to 1500’-2000’, holding all day, with another .25-.5” for 4-6” of new snow with SW wind at 30-40 for most of the day.

Good morning!

Another late forecast… sorry. That’s what you get for free. =)

I’m tired this morning, and that’s making the image on the radar irritating. A downpour over the coast range is headed NE instead of straight east at Mt. Hood. Everybody needs to think eastward thoughts and send that yellow and orange blob this way.

If that blob hits Hood, we’ll see some snowfall during the day today. The snow level will be at 4000’ early, falling to 1500’ by 1pm and then rising to 3500’ by 4pm. When the precip moves over the mountain, we’ll see light to moderate snow until mid-afternoon, becoming heavy between 5pm and 11pm. Total precip, according to the models, will be .5-.75” for 6-8” of new, mostly falling in the evening. Winds will be SW 15-20 early, rising to SW 20-30 mid afternoon and holding overnight.

Winds swing more to the south tomorrow morning bringing the snow level up to 5000-6000’ depending on which model you favor. The snow level will rise to 6500’ by 10am or so, holding through 4-5pm before falling back to 3500’ around 11pm. Total precip tomorrow will be 1.5-2” of water value, likely with some rain mixed in, making total snowfall hard to predict. I’ll go with a guess of 3-5” of wet snow down low with 12-15” up high. Winds will be SSW 20-25 early, rising to S 40-45 by 10am, rising to S 40-60 by 4pm and swinging to WSW 45-55 by 11pm. Wind direction should protect lifts tomorrow.

Monday brings snow and wind. The snow level will be 3500’ all day with light to moderate snowfall all day for .5-.75” water value and 6-8” of new. It’s going to be stormy, with SW wind at 40-50 going to WSW 40-40 early afternoon.

Tuesday looks borderline warm, with 1.5-2” of water value, the snow level around 5500’ and S wind at 30-40. Temps drop Wednesday and Thursday with snow on Wednesday and potential clearing on Thursday.

Have a great day today!
