4/15 Perfect mountain biking forecast. And Mt. Hood flurries and Gorge light wind.

Thank you for using this forecast! Your donations keep this forecast going – despite rumors to the contrary, nobody pays me to write this and post it. This forecast started as a way for me to find better windsurfing conditions. It morphed into a way for me to find better skiing in the winter. Seemed silly to keep that information to myself, so it’s here for you (almost) every day. Make a $12 or larger donation, and you’re on the email list for a year. No dealing with the twice-yearly pledge drive. Sometimes I even have prizes to give away from the email list sponsors. Thank you again for your support! Enjoy the snow and wind and sun!

Good morning,

The forecast today is a bit on the blah side. It’s not perfect for windsurfing or skiing or road biking. The only thing it’s really good for is you mountain bikers, so get ready to ride this week. The women’s-only Post and Pinot is on this week, leaving Dirty Fingers at 5:30pm on Wednesday. The manly Post and Pint happens Thursday at 5:30pm. Mark your calendar for Saturday, when the HRATS have a work party to reroute the trail off the road between Middle 8-Track and Upper 8-Track. Also Saturday, there’s an Earth Day weeding party at the Waterfront Park. And… if you want to build trail this week, Steve Dunn is looking for a hand with Whoopdee. Email him at hoodriverdunn@gmail.com.

In weather news, it’ll be in the mid 30’s this morning and low 50’s this afternoon under overcast sky with W wind in the central Gorge at 15-18, dropping to 10-15 later.

Tuesday starts in the low 40’s, climbing to the low 50’s, under clearing sky with W wind at 5-10 early and 15-18 in the afternoon.

Wednesday morning will be in the low 40’s, with temps in the mid 50’s in the afternoon with overcast sky by midday and light wind picking up to W 15-18 in the afternoon.

Tomorrow starts with a few flurries on the mountain with clear sky in the afternoon. The freezing level will be 2000′ early and 4000′ in the afternoon with N wind at 15mph.

Wednesday starts clear, quickly becoming overcast. The freezing level will be 3000′ in the morning and 4000′ in the afternoon. Wind will be NW 15 early and W 15-20 later.

Thursday looks warmer, but mostly dry, and Friday looks quite wet, but likely a little too warm for snow at 5000′.

See. It’s a perfect mountain biking forecast, and good for road biking if you want to ride early in the day. Have a fun week!

Good morning,

Thank you to everyone who showed up for the Seven Streams tree planting party yesterday. We planted over 500 trees along the trail corridor and in the riparian zone. If you’re riding along this summer and you see a little tree along the trail, give it a squirt from your water bottle!

Missed the party yesterday? There’s a work party today on the Gorge’s most awesome trail: The Whoopdee. Join Steve Dunn (whose selfless volunteer efforts over the last several years have resurrected this trail and made it awesome) at 9am. Meet at the flat field on the east side of Old Dalles Road between the Whoopdee exit and Whoopdee entrance. And make sure that next time you see Steve, you tell him how awesome his trail is. Or just email him: hoodriverdunn@gmail.com

Today is also Ski Free day at Skibowl. Never been there? Today’s your chance to try it at no risk. It’s just 15 minutes past Meadows, so give it a try today!
