Good morning,

I saw people out spraying and road biking yesterday, but today’s not going to be a good day for it. The wind is quite light right now, with the gradient only at .03, but it’s going to get quite windy today. The only problem is that this classic Gorge setup includes a little disturbance moving through. That tends to make it windy for a while in the Corridor before the strong wind shifts to Stevenson and Hood River. Anyway, we’ll see a steady increase to 26-30 by early afternoon. You can probably kite or sail anywhere you wish today, as it’ll be windy from Stevenson all the way east.

It will be very windy tonight, especially near Hood River, where Arthur’s garbage cans are likely to blow away. Tomorrow morning will be somewhere between 25-30 near Hood River, east to Doug’s, backing off to 23-26 in the afternoon from Hood River eastward. High pressure builds back in on Thursday for lighter west wind, and possibly a switch to east wind.

If you want to work on trails, there’s an all-girl work party today in Post Canyon. The girls will be working in upper Post with Rick Higgins of CGORA and Douglas Johnson of Hood River County. If you want to join them, meet at Family Man at 8:45 or 10 Speed Roastery at 8:15 for coffee. If it’s later than that, they’ll be up on the 133 trail.

Coming up tomorrow, there’s a lot going on. The Kayak Shed’s shop paddle will either be on the Lower White Salmon or the Lower Hood. The first is class II and the second Class III, and they are both running at pretty stiff levels. Call the shop for more information. At 6:30 tomorrow evening, the sailboats leave the Hood River Marina. At 7pm, the Hood River County planning commission starts a meeting about the Barrett Park proposal, so be there to present your side. Finally, at 7:30 tomorrow, Richard Hallman presents a slideshow at Dog River on surfing the Oregon Coast.

Have an awesome day today!

Ever try to get in to see your chiropractor, only to be told you’re waiting a few days? Every been hurt on a Saturday? Hood River Chiropractic, located downtown above Flow Yoga, can help you out. Docs Michelle and Alex (who rips Post Canyon all the time) can get you in, even on a Saturday. These two understand you don’t want to slow down because you’re hurt. They’ll work with you to formulate a recovery plan that allows you to keep doing the things you love (like ride Post). They take insurance, they offer cash discounts, and they’ll make sure you get the treatment you need. Finally, if you need some supplements (no, not EPO or HGH), they’ll do customized nutritional analysis to make sure you’re only getting the supps you really need. To book an appointment, give them a call: 541-406-0849. Two of the lucky people on the email version of this forecast will win free chiropractic appointments this week.

We’re going to have a bit of east wind this morning, with 17-20 at Rooster Rock and Stevenson this morning, but it’s not going to last very long today. It’s also the last CGWA swap meet of the season, so do your shopping fast and get on the water early!

After today, the wind is really going to back off. We’ll see light wind tomorrow morning, building to 10-15 out of the west in the afternoon. If we get really lucky, we’ll see 16-19 late in the afternoon. Then on Tuesday, the wind shuts down to nothing, and we’ll probably see glassy conditions through the end of the week, as high pressure and hot temperatures keep the wind from blowing.

It’s going to be a great week for road biking, with cool overnight temperatures making for great riding early in the day, and the lack of wind making for good riding all day long. To celebrate, Henni’s Bar and Grill in White Salmon will be hiding a gift certificate on one of the Gorge’s classic rides this week, so stay tuned for the details on that.

If you’re looking for something to do this evening, Hennis’ is having a party. Swing by from 5-9, and take a look at what kind of dinner you’ll win if you find that gift certificate.

Finally, today is the Sandy Ridge Super D race, so cross your fingers for our local riders. I think we’ve got racers in every class, so good luck to everyone, and bring home some medals for the Gorge!

Stay cool out there, and have an awesome day!
