6/17 Gorge wind and events. Sorry. No pig roast today.

Good morning,

Henni’s Kitchen and Bar is this week’s sponsor. In Washington? Hungry? Henni’s is here for you 7 days a week from 5pm-close. Chef Christiaan Erasmus earned his stars at many delicious restaurants, including Abruzzo in Hood River and Portland’s Fratelli. He’s moved on from Italian, to your benefit. At Henni’s, you’ll find curries, burgers, delicious pasta, and all sorts of mouth-watering small plates. Prices are quite reasonable, and the drinks are delicious. Like Henni’s on Facebook and know about the daily mixed drink specials. More importantly, Henni’s gives back to the community: Christiaan, a newly-minted citizen of the USA, put together the pig roast for the White Salmon Pool. Talk about giving back to your community… Henni’s supports White Salmon – you go support Henni’s!

Before you read on, please remember that this report is brought to you free of charge. Nobody pays me to do this unless you do! If the report saves you time, money, keeps you in the loop, or just helps you have more fun, please take the time to

make a donation. Suggested minimum: $12. That’s $1/month You pay more than that in gas driving to the beach. I know I’ve saved you that much. Kick down! Thank you for your support!

Today’s forecast: First, thanks to everyone who supported the White Salmon pool last night at the pig roast, and congrats to all the runners who finished the White Salmon Backyard Half yesterday. I saw a lot of people limping around Rheingarten Park barefoot. Does that mean the Backyard Half is extra hard?

In the wind forecast today, take a look at NOAA’s forecast for Arlington. They’ve issued the blowing dust warning, which goes way past blowing garbage cans and clothes blowing off the line. At least, I think it does. I also think it would be more amusing if NOAA had a sense of humor and put up an image of a blowing garbage can rather than an image of blowing dust. Anyway give the cold front till 10 or 11 to finish crossing the Cascades. After that, you can expect west wind at 21-24 from Stevenson to Mosier, with westerlies picking up to 28-32 east of Mosier, all the way out to Arlington. Strongest wind today: Rowena/Doug’s/Maryhill. If you’re windsurfing or kiting in the crazy wind today, think about wearing a helmet and riding with a partner.

Coming up tomorrow, we’ll have more west wind. 21-24 starts the day east of Hood River, with afternoon wind rising to 28-32, with the strongest wind tomorrow at Maryhill and Arlington, despite the fact that NOAA didn’t mention any blowing objects for tomorrow.

West wind continues on Tuesday, in the mid-twenties or so. If you want to try some gear on Tuesday, or for the rest of the week for that matter, the Hot Sails Maui Demo guy will be here, with tons of this year’s sails and masts for you to try for free. Stay tuned for more details on the where and how.

Coming up tomorrow, free Tai Chi kicks off at Wilson Park in Hood River. The class is open to everyone, even total beginners, so swing by and check it out, starting at 6pm.

Have an awesome day today!

6/16 Pig Roast Forecast

Good morning,

Pig Roast for the Pool, Today. Brought to you by Henni’s In Washington? Hungry? Henni’s is here for you 7 days a week from 5pm-close. Chef Christiaan Erasmus earned his stars at many delicious restaurants, including Abruzzo in Hood River and Portland’s Fratelli. He’s moved on from Italian, to your benefit. At Henni’s, you’ll find curries, burgers, the obligatory delicious pasta, and all sorts of mouth-watering small plates. Prices are quite reasonable, and the drinks are delicious. Like Henni’s on Facebook and know about the daily specials. More importantly, Henni’s gives back to the community: they’re having a pig roast to benefit the White Salmon Pool. Today, starting at 4pm, Rheingarten Park in White Salmon. $5 gets you food. $5 gets you beer. Music by the Poly-Tonics and Tony Smiley. To donate to the pool, send a check to: PO Box 1746, White Salmon.

Before you read on, please remember that this report is brought to you free of charge. Nobody pays me to post. If the report saves you time, money, or keeps you in the loop, or just helps you have more fun, please take the time to

make a donation. Suggested minimum: $12. That’s $1/month. You pay more than that in gas driving to the beach. I know I’ve saved you that much money. Kick down! Oh, and a donation puts you in the running for prizes. Thank you for your support!

First things first today, it’s the White Salmon Backyard Half Marathon, starting from Rheingarten Park at 10am, and finishing after you run to the top of Burdoin Mountain and jog your way down. If you run the race, your finish line will be the party in the park, with the Pig Roast to benefit the White Salmon Pool. Henni’s Restaurant is cooking up pig for 2000, at $5 a plate, with proceeds going to the White Salmon Pool.

There’s going to be music and beer and a good time for all, so make sure you end up over there today!
Party starts at noon. Pork eating starts around 4pm. Two bands: the Poly-Tonics (with member Steve A. who won the rash guard) and Tony Smiley.

In the wind forecast today, we start off with light west wind at 10-15 or so under high overcast skies and muggy air. As a weather system approaches this afternoon, we’ll see the wind pick up through the Gorge, hitting 17-21 near Hood River early afternoon with 21-24 at Stevenson and 23-26 east of Hood River. Expect gusty conditions.

Don’t leave the clothes on the line or the garbage cans on the street overnight tonight (Arthur, I know you already brought your can in, but this is a reminder for everyone else), because it’s going to be ripping windy starting in the wee hours. Clouds in the western Gorge tomorrow morning will give us gusty 21-24 from Stevenson to Hood River with 28-33+ east of Mosier, filling in all the way out to Arlington. The direction should be lovely, as well, with good wind at Doug’s, Maryhill, and Arlington.

Monday also looks cool and cloudy in the western Gorge, with strong west wind out east. Same goes for Tuesday.

Have an awesome day today!
