Good morning,
Windance is your source for just about everything: Kiteboarding, windsurfing, SUP, snow, surf, with a knowledgeable poser-free sales force there to help you choose the right gear. Plenty of demos ensure that you’ll love what you buy. Plus, Windance has the Gorge’s largest selection of used gear and 3 swap meets (next one: July 1st). Not only does Windance bring you great gear and great service, they bring you great parties, with free food, free beer, and the chance to hang out with all your wind-loving friends. Windance, open 7 days a week, 8am-6pm. The people who’ve donated have a chance to win a free wetsuit this week. Now, don’t you want to donate? =)
Before you read on, please remember that this report (wind, snow and events!) is brought to you free of charge. Nobody pays me to do this unless you do! If the report saves you time, money, keeps you in the loop, or just helps you have more fun, please take the time to
make a donation. Suggested minimum: $12. That gets you on the mailing list and in the running for prizes. That’s $1/month You pay more than that in gas driving to the beach or the mountain. I know I’ve saved you that much. Kick down! Thank you for your support!
The Gorge is on the back side of a weather system today, and as that system keeps moving east, we should see the clouds dissipating. We’ll see gusty west wind this morning in the 21-24 range near Hood River and in the upper valley, with brief stronger periods, and then this afternoon, possibly as early as noon, as the atmosphere stabilizes, we’ll see the wind get steadier and go to 26-30 east of Mosier, with 28-33 possible at Arlington and Roosevelt.
Models aren’t showing much wind for the 4th, but I think we’ll see 10-15 near Hood River by midday, maybe even a late bump to 15-18 if everything shakes out right. Either way, it looks like we’ll have nice summer weather, with mostly clear skies and a high near 80 degrees.
On Thursday, low pressure off the coast keeps the wind in the 5-10 range in the morning and in the 15-18 range in the afternoon.
For events tonight, there’s the ladies standup paddle club, weather permitting, brought to you by Big Winds. Join the gals at the Event Site in Hood River at 5:30 for free standup paddle demos and mini lessons. Also tonight, also at the Event Site, the Hood River Triathlon Club does their weekly practice at 6pm.
Tomorrow night, it’s game on 4th of July, with everyone watching fireworks and BBQing. Don’t forget to make a donation to the Lions Club in Hood River if you’re watching the show. Even $5 helps fund the show, and it’s pretty cheap for an evening’s entertainment.
Have an awesome day today!
