Random Morning Thoughts

One of the difficult things about being a human is stepping out of a crowd and being seen. When we do that, we make ourselves vulnerable. We risk failing, we risk shame, and we risk punishment. Our nervous systems are wired to avoid these things, making standing up and speaking up a scary task.

It takes courage to speak your truth, especially when others around you appear to have different truths, or when you hold information that others do not have. But when you have courage to speak or act, you also have the opportunity to inspire others to do the same.

This doesn’t just apply to issues of morality or ethics – it also applies to sports. By being good at something, you inspire others to follow in your footsteps. You show people what is possible. Many of you, I know, are talented athletes. Your ability to shred is a powerful voice.

Consider for a moment what other powers lie within you. What do you hold dear, and what are you holding near out of fear? See if you can find a way to step forward and give voice to other parts of your personality than your athletic awesomeness. Inspire yourself, and inspire others. You’re awesome. Have an awesome day.

Disclaimer required by my grad school program: I am not your therapist (but I could be 40 graduate school credits from now). I am your weather forecaster. One other thing: I plan to keep doing this forecast indefinitely, even when I am a therapist.

Gorge Weather Forecast

The nothing is out there this morning, but it should break up some as temps warm today. Still… it’ll be cold. Teens in the morning and low 20’s this afternoon. High clouds move in later. East wind. No rainbows. Tuesday brings freezing rain starting by 10am. It might start out as snow, but isn’t likely to stay snow or sleet for long. Temps will be in the low 20’s early and the mid 20’s in the afternoon. East wind. No rainbows. Wednesday will likely see continued freezing rain, but if we’re lucky, it’ll warm above freezing in the afternoon. Fingers crossed. This is going to be a hell of an ice storm. Be prepared.
