Gorge Wind Forecast
Light easterlies Sunday morning pick up to E 10-15 midday and back off to light easterlies in the afternoon. Monday brings E 20-25 near Rooster Rock and Stevenson for the first half of the day. Then the wind will fade to light easterly in the evening. Looks like a great day to get out on a SUP board or a kayak or maybe even a floaty toy, although the river is only 53 degrees.

Gorge Wind Forecast, continued.
Tuesday starts off with light west wind and picks up all the way to 28-32 in the afternoon through the entire Gorge. It’s actually a pretty interesting setup: a trough of low pressure approaches the coast in the afternoon, dropping temps on the western half of the state. Timing will be everything with this setup, but it’s looking good as of right now. With strong high pressure in the Pacific to aid the gradient across the Cascade, things could get quite rowdy on the river late Tuesday afternoon.
As of right now, Wednesday looks like 24-27, concentrated in the Viento to Doug’s section of river. Let’s keep an eye on Wednesday, because it’s possible the models are underestimating the wind strength. Flow Sunday is 403kcfs, 1627 spring Chinook made it past Bonneville Dam yesterday, and river temp is 53 degrees.

Disclaimer required by my grad school program: I am not your therapist (but I could be 40 graduate school credits from now). I am your weather forecaster. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, and consult with your actual therapist about your mental health issues. One other thing: I plan to keep doing this forecast indefinitely, even when I am a therapist.
Gorge Weather Forecast
It’s a sunny day, and shall stay that way. Temps will be in the mid 50’s early (open windows) and the mid 80’s this afternoon (close windows) . Light wind. No rainbows. Tomorrow looks almost identical, but a couple degrees warmer. Tuesday looks just plain hot: upper 50’s early (definitely open those windows) and low 90’s in the afternoon. Light wind early. Very strong west wind in the afternoon. No rainbows.

White Sprinter Van of the Day
Road and Mountain Biking
Gorge 400 is clear of snow and downed trees and is riding great. 408 is apparently clear too. Surveyor’s Ridge is apparently clear of downed trees but not clear of snow, at least the singletrack part of it, but the snow depth may have changed this week with all that snow! Dog River is open. In road bike news, Lost Lake Road is open, but I have no info on Lake Branch or Vista Ridge. Guessing they are still snowy… No dogs are allowed on Hospital Hill due to grazing cattle, and Innerwoods, below the bench, and roads to Innerwoods are closed. The Rowena Curves remain closed due to a rockslide. The Historic Columbia River Highway Trail is open all the way to Warrendale, with two trees down at a very obvious spot.
