Good morning!

It’s a chilly, windy morning on Mt. Hood, and it’s going to be a nice day for skiing today. The snow level holds under 1000’ today with clearing or partly cloudy skies midday with high clouds moving in mid-afternoon. We’ll get less than .1” precip today. Wind will be NW 30-40 early, dropping to WNW 20-30 by 10am, NW 10-15 by 4pm and picking back up to W 20-25 late in the evening.
We’ll see partly cloudy to clear skies to start off Friday, with clouds moving in midday and precip starting between 4pm and 7pm. Although the freezing level will rise to 6000’ during the day, and we may see a few sprinkles, I think the significan precip will come in as snow. That said, the snow level will be 6000’ at 10am, 5500’ at 4pm, 3000’ at 7pm and 1500’ by 10pm. Wind will be WNW 15-25 early, swinging to SW 20-25 by 10am and SW 35-40 by 4pm. Once the snow starts, it’s going to come in hard: 1” water value (WV) between 7pm Friday and 4am Saturday, for 10-12” of new snow.
Saturday looks very snowy. The snow level will be under 1000’ all day. Wind will be W 45-50 early, going to WNW 50 by 7am, 40-50 by 10am, holding through the day, and picking up as the front passes to 50-55 after 4pm. We’ll see very heavy snow 4am-4pm, especially in the morning, for 1” WV and 10-14” of new. We’ll see another .2-.4” WV 4pm Saturday through 4am Sunday, for another 3-5” of new.
Sunday starts off with orographic snow flurries. The snow level will be less than 500’. Wind will be NW 30 early, dropping to 15-20 midday. Precip amounts are unclear this far off, but it looks like we’ll see a few more inches. The extended weather forecasts suggests sun on Monday and then more cold snow all next week. Finally!
