Mt. Hood Weather Forecast

Snow continues on Mt. Hood for Saturday into Sunday. That’s followed by a couple of days of clear and cold conditions, after which we go back into another round of snowfall.

For Saturday, expect moderate snowfall all day and light snowfall overnight. The snow level will be 3000′ early and 0-500′ overnight. About 0.5” water value (WV) falls during the day, for 5” of new snow. Another 0.2” falls overnight, for 2-3” of powdery goodness. Wind will be W 20 in the morning, WNW 25 in the afternoon, and NNW 10 overnight.

Sunday looks partly cloudy to mostly cloudy with on and off flurries all day. Clear sky arrives overnight. Snow level: 0′. Precip: trace. Wind: NNW 10 early, N 10 later, and N 20 overnight. Monday looks clear and sunny. Freezing level: 0′. Mountain temps: single digits to teens. Wind: N 20 early, N 15 afternoon, NW 15 overnight.

Light snowfall returns Tuesday. Snow level: 0′. Precip: trace during the day, 1-2” of powder overnight. Wind: NW 15 early, NW 25 from sunrise on. Additional snow arrives on Wednesday for 5-8” of fresh powder.

Gorge Wind

East wind at 5-15 on Saturday morning fades during the day and goes to light westerly for a couple hours overnight. By sunrise, Sunday, the wind will be back to E 10-15 from Stevenson to The Dalles as cold air pours in from the east. Monday sees easterlies at 30-35 all day near Rooster Rock and Cascade Locks. Tuesday starts with E 20-25 and turns to light westerly as a very strong offshore high pressure system turns the wind onshore.

JONES, SAUVIE’S, COAST: now on vacation for the fall and winter. Will return in spring.
