For almost 30 years, Temira (they/them) has been making the most of what the Gorge has to offer: riding river swell on a foil or windsurf board, carving fresh lines through the snow, and cycling all the gravel and pavement and trails. This is Temira’s playground, their gym… their life’s work. That’s why in 2006, Temira took it upon themselves to create the most accurate, hyper-local weather forecasts possible. Inaccurate predictions had left too many fellow adventurers caught off-guard and in harm’s way. Temira was determined to change that. Today, Temira’s forecasts have become an essential resource for thousands of skiers, snowboarders, wind sports enthusiasts and travelers through the Gorge. With their guidance, you can plan ahead, time your sessions perfectly, and stay safer on the water, snow, and trails. But the story doesn’t end there. Temira also authors the TATAS Facebook page – the Gorge’s premier source for microclimate forecasts. When winter storms, extreme heat, or other hazardous conditions (avalanches on SR-14 and I-84, for example!) threaten, this community lifeline becomes a vital resource for locals and visitors alike, helping to keep everyone safe.

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast
Hey skiers and snowboarders! If you like groomers, today might just be the best day for it so far this year. One of the Nordic groomers is also saying “best day of the year”. Waxing today? Go blue. In other news, Meadows has PR listed as “likely” for the first time this season. On top of all that, you have NYE parties at Skibowl (lifts ’til 11pm, tubing ’til 12:15am) and Meadows (lifts ’til 10pm). The weather looks excellent for it, but expect snowy/icy roads for your late-night drive home. Looking forward, we have a period of warming late Thursday into Friday followed by a return to snow for the weekend. There’s a huge range in total precip through the end of the weekend: 2-4” depending on whether you look at the GFS or ECMWF, so there’s definitely some uncertainty here. If you’re a Nordic skier, Teacup Nordic has a matching grant in place through the end of the year. Double your Teacup donation impact with year-end matching

Thursday starts clear, but the next system arrives quickly. Temps are going to be all over the place with this one – anything from 0C to +3C. This leaves us with mixed precipitation and the potential for some icing if nothing changes between now and then about the track of this system. The snow level bounces around between 5000′ and 6500′, highest overnight. During the day, we’re expecting 0.4” to 0.5” WE for some snow and some snain and some ice. Overnight: another 0.1” WE. Wind: SW 5-10 in the morning builds to SW 10-20 in the afternoon and SE 15-25 overnight.
Friday looks no better – mixed precip all day with 0.4” to 0.5” WE forecast. Wind will be moderate SE in the morning and moderate SW int eh afternoon. Precip intensity drops way off overnight. Cooler temps are forecast for the weekend with quite a bit of range in the potential snowfall totals. Have a great day on the slopes today. Hope to see you up there!

Cycling Update
Trails have been a mix of frozen, hoar-frost (unrideable), and freeze-thaw. When it’s wet and muddy, or when there are freeze-thaw conditions, please don’t ride, or you’ll do significant trail damage. Then peeps have to fix your mess rather than building new trails. Nobody wants that! Everyone wants new trails. Be a good steward, and pick a different activity
Remember: E-bikes are not allowed on USFS non-moto trails. They are allowed on moto trails.
Make Today Awesome!
