Gorge Wind Forecast

Strong offshore high pressure, everybody’s favorite , takes up residence on Friday for a shot at strong westerlies. Other than Friday, the wind bounces around from easterly to westerly over the next four days. On Thursday, we’ll have all-day sunshine with light and variable wind in the morning. Afternoon wind looks like E 10-15 from Rooster to Stevenson.

Strong offshore high pressure combines with upper-level NW wind that turns very, very strong in the afternoon for a very strong day on the river. Light and variable morning wind picks up to 23-26+ from Stevenson to Mosier with 28-32 from Rowena to Rufus and at least 23-26 from John Day Dam to Boardman. High temp: 63. River temp: 62.

Saturday starts with westerlies at 10-13 in the west and 18-22 east of Mosier. Models suggest the wind will turn around to light easterly as high pressure builds inland. Expect westerlies at 21-24ish on Sunday with adjustments likely to come to that prediction.
