Wednesday-Thursday Gorge wind forecast & Gorge weather forecast: warm and sunny and dry for about 10 days with a mix of westerlies and easterlies.

Hi friends! Gorge wind will bounce back and forth between easterlies and westerlies over the next ten days or so as a ridge of high pressure leads to warm, sunny days and cool nights. Day-to-day variations in the ridge and warmest temps will determine the wind direction; it’s going to be tricky to accurately predict!…

Keep in mind that this forecast attempts to predict what the iKite/iWind sensors will read. Think like a local! All sensors are not equal. Swell reads low. Viento/Arlington/The Wall read high compared to Swell. 30mph at Rufus (The Wall sensor) is about 23-24mph at Swell. 30mph at Swell is about 35-37mph at Rufus/Viento/Arlington. Hope that helps!

SHORT-TERM gorge wind forecast

Hi friends! Gorge wind will bounce back and forth between easterlies and westerlies over the next ten days or so as a ridge of high pressure leads to warm, sunny days and cool nights. Day-to-day variations in the ridge and warmest temps will determine the wind direction; it’s going to be tricky to accurately predict! Given the light Gorge wind forecast for Thursday, I’ll make this forecast for today and tomorrow. See you again Friday morning!

Wednesday started off cloudy with pressures of 30.04/29.95/29.96. Speaking of โ€œtricky to predictโ€, models are not all that enthusiastic about today, but I suspect we’ll beat the models thanks to clouds on the west side and a decent cross-Cascade temp gradient. Late in the day, the wind tapers off as low pressure replaces high pressure off the coast. Early wind was in the teens from Stevenson to the Hatch with 10-13mph to the east and 17-20 at Viento. As the clouds burn back west of Stevenson, we should see westerlies build to 16-19mph from Stevenson to Hood River and then fill in to Doug’s. After 3-4pm, the wind fades.

TBH, this forecast is largely guesswork โ€“ the GFS and Euro are unenthusiastic about today. The HRRR is more optimistic. Oh, fall. Your wind is so tricky to predict. River flow over the last 24 hours was 69-112kcfs, river temp is 65.5F, and high temp forecast is 73 in Hood River.

How to interpret the Euro Ensemble: this is 50 different initial conditions. If the colors are similar for a given day, forecast certainty is high. If the colors vary wildly, uncertainty is high and you should only use pencil on your calendar.

Thursday starts calm, turns easterly at 10-15mph near Stevenson and Viento for a few hours late morning, and then turns calm again in the afternoon. High temp: 77 in Hood River.

As of this morning, Friday looks to bring a brief return of westerlies. After a calm start, westerlies rise to 17-20mph from Stevenson to Hood River and hold for the rest of the day. Mosier joins in during the afternoon. Areas to the east remain light. High temp: 79 in Hood River.

Saturday and Sunday currently look like east wind days. Both start at 25mph or so. Saturday’s wind lasts into the afternoon, while Sunday’s wind fades more quickly. If you’re seeking stronger wind combined with waves, try the south coast. Northerlies at 20+ mph continue daily from today through Saturday. See you on the Nch’i Wana soon!

Good morning, neighbors! Do you like warm, sunny weather? You are in for a treat โ€“ that’s the forecast for about ten days after today (it’s Wednesday). Next chance of rain is about ten days out. Know what TATAS likes about this kind of weather? The opportunity to take some days off!

Wednesday starts off cloudy west of Mosier and east of the Arlington Triangle with partly cloudy sky in between. Early temps were downright hot โ€“ 55 degrees in Glenwood and 64 in Hood River. The previous record high-low in Hood River was 60 degrees, so we might just set a new one today! Our morning clouds burn off and leave us with a few high clouds this afternoon. Temps range from 71 in Stevenson to 73 in Hood River, 79 in The Dalles, and 75 in Pasco. West wind builds to 15-20mph from Stevenson to Rowena and stays light east of The Dalles.

A few high clouds Thursday morning attract more high clouds in the afternoon. High cloud flash mob! Morning temps: 45-55. Afternoon: 76-81, hottest in The Dalles. Wind will be calm early, easterly at 10-15mph between Stevenson and Viento midday, and calm in the afternoon. Warm, sunny weather continues on Friday with lows at 45-55 and highs 78-83. We’ll have west wind at 15mph west of The Dalles and calm wind to the east.

Temps bump up to 80-85 degrees for the weekend, and the wind switches direction: we’ll have easterlies at 25mph at Iwash (dick) Rock Stevenson, Home Valley, and Viento as well as in the Hood River Valley and South Wasco County. Warm, sunny, moderately breezy weather continues through next week. Safe travels. -TATAS
