Thank you for using this forecast! Your donations keep this forecast going – nobody but you pays me to do this. So why is it here? This forecast started as a way for me to find better wind in the summer and better snow in the winter. Seemed silly to keep that information to myself, so it’s here for you too (almost) every day. Donate to keep it going! Make a $12 or larger donation by clicking on the sun and you’re on the email list for a year. No dealing with the twice-yearly pledge drive. Sometimes I even have prizes to give away from the email list sponsors. Thank you again for your support! Enjoy the snow and wind and sun!
Random Morning Thoughts
I guess fall has arrived, just in time for the first day of autumn.
Wind and weather forecast
Well… it’s a fall-like weather pattern today too. We’ll see light west wind this morning, probably glassing off midday, and then picking up late in the afternoon to some sort of very gusty and unpredictable teen+ short-lived wind as a weather system hits. It will probably be quite windy overnight in the eastern Gorge, but that doesn’t really help us, as it’ll be dark.
Tomorrow starts with up-and-down westerlies at 15-18, or maybe a bit less, and they’ll continue to be-up-and-down and gusty through the whole Gorge all day. We may end up with stronger west wind on Wednesday as high pressure builds off the coast.
The snow level will be around 9000′ today, dropping to 6500′ overnight. Then the snow level stays at 6500′ all day tomorrow and drops to 6000′ on Tuesday. You can see proof of the snow level by looking at the Meadows webcams. That’s what I did.

Stuff happening
All that said, this morning shouldn’t be too wet and there are a few events going on. The Ride With Love, a fundraiser for ALS research, is happening this morning on the Twin Tunnels Trail, leaving from the Hood River side. There’s a ride to Mosier and one out to Rowena Crest. Registration is open until 10am at the west end of the Twin Tunnels Trail.
Also today, it’s the Gorge kids triathlon at Hood River’s Waterfront Park. Registration opens at 8:30am, and the race is open for kids from Kindergarten through 5th grade.
Today at Sandy Ridge, NWTA has a shuttle day fundraiser. All the rides you want for $30 for non-members and $10 for members. And later this afternoon, the rugby folks have a pickup game – join them at 3pm at the Mosier School.
Have an awesome day today!
