Good morning!

Mother Nature wants you to know that it’s not spring yet. The snow level today is all over the place, but should drop down to about 1000-1500’ by mid-morning. We’ll see moderate orographic snow showers through 4pm, becoming light overnight, for a total of .5-.75” WV for 4-6” of new today. Models show winds at NW 30-35 early building to NW 35-40 by 11am, which will probably come closer to 50-60 on the slopes. High winds will affect lift ops. =)

Winter continues tomorrow with the snow level at 1000’ early rising to 2000’ by 4pm. We’ll see flurries through 11am, with cloudy skies after that. Total precip tomorrow will be less than .25”, for a couple inches of new. Winds will be NW 25-30 early, falling to W 10-15 by 11am and holding for the rest of the day.

Monday still looks like we’ll see some wacky weather with a possibility of freezing rain or, if we’re lucky, just very heavy rimed snow. The snow level will be at 1500’ early, but as warm air comes over the top, it will rise, going to 4500-5000’ by 4pm. Snowfall will be moderate all day, becoming heavy overnight Monday into Tuesday. Total precip during the day will be 1-1.5” WV for 4-5” during the day and another 7-9” overnight. Winds will be WSW 30-40 early becoming W 30-40 by 11am.

Tuesday looks fun, as the snow level will fall back to 1500’ by 5am. We’ll see less than .25” precip during the day, but should have plenty of new on the ground from the Monday night storm. Winds will be W 30-35 all day.

Wednesday looks sick, as we’ll see dumping snow overnight Tuesday into Wednesday with the snow level around 2000’.

If you’re looking for high wind kiting or windsurfing, today is your day. Steadiest wind will be east of Mosier, with 30-35 at Arlington and The Wall (and possibly Doug’s and Mosier) starting midday and lasting through sundown. If you want less wind, you’ll have gusty 17-21 under the clouds in the western Gorge. Tomorrow brings gusty westerlies in the 14-17 range east of Hood River. Tuesday afternoon brings more west wind. Go get some!

Have a great day today!

Good morning!

It’s snowing, and it’s going to keep snowing all day. Total water value today will be .75-1.0” for 9-12” of new snow, falling continuously during the day. The snow level will be 2000’ early, rising to 3000’ mid-afternoon. Winds will be SW 30-35 early dropping to SW 25-30 by 4pm.

Tomorrow brings a bit more snow. The snow level early will be 2000’, rising to 4000’ by 2pm. Winds will be NW 15-20 early rising to SW 10-15 by 2pm. We’ll see a total of .2-.3” of water value for 2” or so of new snow.

Tuesday looks snowy, with the snow level at 3000’ early rising to 3500’ by 4pm. Snow starts by 5am, and models are disagreeing on snow totals. Given a little orographic help, I think we’ll see .3-.4” of water value for 3-5” of new snow. Winds will be WSW 30-35 early, switching to NW 25-35 by 2pm.

The snow level overnight Tuesday climbs dramatically, hitting 8000’ or so by the morning. Models are still all over the place with rainfall and wind, but at this point, it looks like we’ll see a small amount of precip with a large amount of NW wind (35-45mph).

I’m headed to Crystal for the next couple of days with a friend, so I’m probably not going to be doing a forecast. Vacation, baby!

Have a great day today!
