Good morning,

First, I’d like to wish a very happy birthday to Rob Warwick, local ripper, and also a very happy belated birthday – it was yesterday – to Victor the Inflictor. If you see either of them around today, wish them the best!

Yesterday was a very windy day, as you might have noticed, and the westerlies will continue today, but they’ll be lighter. We’ll see 16-19 from Stevenson to Hood River for much of the day. East of Hood River, winds will blow in the low teens early and pick up to 22-25 in the afternoon.

On Thursday, a weak ridge builds over the Cascades. That will cause the wind to back off a lot, with light wind through midday, picking up to 13-16 from Stevenson to Hood River in the afternoon. Winds will be light east of The Dalles.

Friday brings continued west wind in the upper teens near Hood River and Stevenson.

Tonight is the busiest event night of the week, so there’s no reason to complain of boredom this evening. There’s the Kayak Shed’s shop paddle meeting at Husum at 5:30, the Hood River Tri practice meeting at the east end of the Event Site at 6pm, the sailboat races and, for women only, the Post and Pinot mountain bike ride, with a free bike maintenance clinic and free wine afterwards, meeting at Dirty Fingers at 5:30.

Coming up tomorrow night, swing by Wet Planet in Husum to learn about sustainable business, and to hear a talk from Pacific Power about the latest on the Condit Dam removal project. I believe there are snacks and free beer at this event as well. Also tomorrow night, it’s the Post and Pint Ride, the co-ed version of the Post and Pinot.

Finally, the river levels: the White Salmon is at 4.9 feet, the Klickitat’s at 3500 cfs, the Hood is at 5.4 feet, and the Wind is at 5.5 feet.

Have an awesome day today!
