There’s delicious food at Cebu and Riverside. This is truly one of my favorite places to both eat and to hang out. The food was lovely last year, but now there’s a new menu. Yummy spinach salad. And pork ribs over polenta. And of course, there’s always the best happy hour in the Gorge, 4-6pm, Monday-Friday with the awesomest burger around. And $12 Prime Rib on Tuesday. Print or show this ad on your phone for buy one, get one half off at Riverside, Sunday-Thursday, through February 28, 2014.
Random Morning Thoughts
Sometimes I want to slap people upside the head and say, “Wake up. Life is passing you by.” But that wouldn’t be very kind or compassionate of me. So I don’t do it. At least not literally.

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast
It snowed. Yay! Hooray! Yippee! We’ll see more snow flurries on Mt. Hood today, with sunbreaks possible before 1pm or so. The snow level will be 1500-2000′. We’ll see trace accumulation during the day, maybe up to an inch. After 4pm, we’ll see .6-.8” water value (WV) for another 6-9” of light and fluffy powder. Wind today will be WNW 25-30 all day.
Tomorrow brings flurries all day with the snow level around 1500′ early, dropping to under 500′ in the afternoon. We’ll get .1-.2” WV, for a couple inches of new snow. Wind will be W 20 early and W 15 in the afternoon.
Saturday and Sunday look clear and cold with the free air freezing level around 500′ and light wind. It’s going to be fantastic all-mountain skiing on the weekend. Very, very busy times at the resorts.
Next chance for snow is, well, it isn’t in the forecast, yet. Maybe a few flurries Monday, and then we’re back to cold high pressure, assuming the long-range models are correct.
Gorge Weather
Morning weather check: Definitely not clothing-optional out there. Sweats, socks and hoodie was the perfect outfit. It’s cloudy and relatively mild with a light westerly breeze. Expect a few sunbreaks in the Gorge today with temps in the low 40’s all day. Rain increases after 4pm. Tomorrow brings showers and a few sunbreaks with temps below freezing early (watch for icy roads) and in the upper 30’s in the afternoon. Saturday looks cold with low clouds of some sort – whether they’ll be broken clouds or unbroken clouds, I’m not sure yet. Same goes for Sunday.
Gorge Wind Forecast
We’ll see leftover westerlies today in the 15-18 range from Hood River east to Maryhill. Tomorrow brings light west wind at 10-15 in the western Gorge. Saturday brings light east wind at 10-15. Looks like the next big wind event is during the middle of next week, when we’ll see very strong east wind coupled with sub-freezing temps. Might be time to break out the fur coat.
Road and Mountain Biking
It’s warm enough for a road ride today, and seeing as how it’s going to get colder over the next several days, today might be a good day for a road ride. Anyone have any mountain bike reports? I do keep forgetting to mention one thing: The old Buck Creek Loop has been reopened. Wow. That was one massive project. Thank you, trail fairy.

There’s pickup rugby tonight at Henkle Middle School at 3:30pm. Is that actually tonight? Or is that “this afternoon”?
