Good morning,

Isn’t the weather nicer today? Nicer in the Gorge, nicer in Portland, nicer on the mountain. Aaaah. Get out and give back for Earth Day!

Here are your options in the Gorge: HRATS building a new mile of 8-Track – meet at Family Man at 8:30am. Waterfront Park weeding and other activities – 9am to noon. River cleanup with Riverkeepers – 10am, Discovery Center. CGKA beach improvement at Viento – 9am.

In weather news, today will be partly cloudy in the central Gorge with sun out east. It’ll be windy too: 21-24 early through the whole Gorge, picking up to 30-35 from Mosier east to Arlington this afternoon. Strongest wind will be from Lyle to Maryhill. Temps today will be in the low 50’s early and upper 50’s late.

Tomorrow looks partly cloudy early and cloudy later. Wind will be gusty 23-26 in the morning and gusty 26-30 in the afternoon, with the steadiest wind at Stevenson and useable wind all the way east to Arlington. Temps will be in the mid 40’s early and upper 40’s late.

Monday looks clear. Although models suggest we’ll see temps in the low 40’s in the morning and low 60’s in the afternoon, I wouldn’t be surprised to see frost in the Hood River Valley Monday morning. Anyway, wind on Monday will be E 23-26 at Stevenson and Rooster and E 5-15 in the rest of the Gorge in the afternoon.

Tuesday looks very similar to Monday, but high temps will be in the 70’s It’s worth mentioning that the coast will be GOING OFF Monday through Wednesday, with north wind at 25+ from, say, Manzanita south (picking up to 40ish at Pistol). Unfortunately, there will just be a 3′ west swell.

On Mt. Hood, ski season continues, with flurries today, becoming more clear later. The snow level will be 4000′ early and 6500′ at 5pm. No accumulation. Wind NW 25 all day.

Tomorrow sees cloudy sky over Mt. Hood with a chance of flurries, but no accumulation. The snow level will be 5000′ early and 2000′ after 8am. Wind will be W 20-30 early and NW 20-30 after 8am. Monday starts clear and cold, with the free air freezing level at 1500′, rising to 4000′ or higher in the afternoon, with E/NE wind at 15mph. Tuesday through Thursday looks warm and springlike on the hill with N or NE wind.

Good morning,

It’s a nice, wet day on Mt. Hood, and I’ll be sitting in my office watching the rain fall. Feel free to come up and keep me company!

Guess that means we’re starting with the Mt. Hood forecast: Rain this morning turns to snow this afternoon, as the snow level drops from 6500′ this morning to 5500′ this afternoon. Total rainfall: 1-1.5”, with a chance of 1-3” of snow overnight (unlikely). Wind will increase to W 45 by 10am, becoming WNW 40-50 by 2pm.

Tomorrow brings orographic snow flurries on Mt. Hood with sunbreaks. The snow level will be 2500′ all day. No accumulation. Wind NW 30, dropping to 20-25 midday. Sunday looks sunny, with the freezing level at 1500′ early and 3000′ in the afternoon with NW wind at 20mph.

In Gorge weather, we’ll see low 50’s this morning and mid 50’s this afternoon, with heavy rain through noon and sprinkles later. Wind will be W 15-18 all day in the central Gorge, picking up to 30+ east of Lyle this afternoon.

Tomorrow looks partly cloudy, becoming clear. Temps will be in the mid 40’s early and mid 50’s late. Wind will be W 15-18 in the morning, picking up to steady 27-31 from Mosier to Maryhill in the afternoon.

Sunday looks clear, with frost possible above 1000′. Temps at river level will be in the mid 40’s early and low 60’s in the afternoon, with west wind at 10-15 early and 17-21 late. Monday-Thursday look sunny, with warm temps in the afternoon. However, on Monday, at least, we’ll likely see frost down to river level.

In events, it’s way super busy this weekend due to Earth Day, as everyone wants to get in on the Earth Day action. Two running races: Angela Coe in Cascade Locks and the Trout Lake Run. Many work parties on Saturday: HRATS at Post Canyon, meeting at Family Man at 8:30am. Hood River Waterfront Park at 9am. Riverkeeper meeting at the Discovery Center at 10am. CGKA at Viento at 9am. On Sunday, Windance hosts the first swap meet of the season. There’s the Cherry of a Ride road ride benefiting St. Mary’s. And there’s the uphill/downhill race at Meadows.
