Good morning,

Ah yes. Yet another lovely day in the Gorge. Sunshine. East wind. Free skiing at Timberline for you Meadows passholders. Mother’s Day on St. Helens with people in dresses. Morels, if you know where to find them.

In the wind forecast for today, we’ll see east wind at 24-27 near Rooster Rock and 21-24 at Stevenson this morning, fading late in the afternoon. Tomorrow starts off with easterlies at 15-18 or less, turning to light west wind at late in the afternoon. Tuesday starts off with westerlies near Hood River at 24-27, as high pressure builds off the coast and the heat low shifts into eastern Oregon and Washington. Although models suggest the wind will back off Tuesday afternoon, I think they’re probably wrong. We’ll see increasingly gusty, but still strong wind, through the day.

The east wind today will make the wind very light near Hood River, and that’s great news for moms because Big Winds is offering free standup paddle demos for all moms at the Event Site from 10am to 4pm. That’s for all the moms without powerboats, because those moms are going wakeboarding and waterskiing today. Lucky moms. Lucky kids. Lucky dads.

For skiing of another kind, today at Timberline, it’s free skiing if you hold this season’s pass from any mountain. I’ve had a few questions about this. Yes, your Meadows 10-time pass will work, and yes, for all my coworkers, your Meadows employee pass will get you on the slopes at Timberline today. Yes to Cooper Spur. Yes, yes, yes, if you hold any sort of pass, you’re free at T-Line.

Coming up next week, CGORA has their monthly meeting at Watson Performance at 7pm on Monday. On Tuesday, Hood River County has their monthly trails meeting, where you can learn more about the county philosophy on trails and specifics on what’s going on to clean up this winter’s ice storm mess.

Have an awesome day today!
