Mt. Hood Snow Forecast

It’s Saturday morning, and there’s light snowfall on Mt. Hood. By this afternoon, we should have sunshine. Sunday looks partly cloudy, as do Monday and Tuesday. Next chance of precipitation is Wednesday, when we’ll probably have snow in the morning and rain overnight.

Saturday’s details include early-morning snowfall followed by afternoon sunshine and light snowfall overnight. The snow level will be 3000′ in the morning, 2500′ in the afternoon, and down to 1000′ after the precip ends tonight. A trace of snow falls during the day and up to 2” of new snow overnight. Wind will be NNW 20 all day and NW 10-15 after midnight.

Clear sky on Sunday morning gives way to partly cloudy sky in the afternoon. The free air freezing level will be 1000′ in the morning, 3500′ in the afternoon, and 2000′ overnight. Wind will be NW 10-15 for the first half of the day and SW 10 for the second half of the day.

Monday looks partly cloudy with occasional flurries. The snow level will be 2000′ early, 4000′ in the afternoon, and 3500′ overnight. Wind will be SW 10 during the morning, light NW in the afternoon, and light SW overnight.

A very dynamic and changeable forecast is in the future for the latter half of next week. It currently looks like we’ll see a few inches of snow on Wednesday morning followed by an inch of rain Wednesday night. That said, models have been consistent in agreeing with each other but not consistent with the outcome of the Wednesday through Friday weather. So, let’s wait and see!

Random Morning Thoughts

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! The wild parties associated with today originated when Irish immigrants to the USA used this day as an opportunity to celebrate their Irishness. That became necessary in part because of discrimination against Irish immigrants.

Given that, I offer up an alternative to nationalistic pride today. How about celebrating our differences and the ways we can learn from each other? What are the good things you can learn from another culture today? I guess what I’m saying is that I’m challenging you to set aside a few minutes today to learn what’s awesome about a marginalized group. May you recognize the beauty in everyone. Have an awesome day.

Disclaimer required by my grad school program: I am not your therapist, but I am seeing clients at this time at Comprehensive Healthcare in White Salmon. In the meantime, I am your weather forecaster. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, and consult with your actual therapist about your mental health issues. One other thing: I plan to keep doing this forecast indefinitely. Forecasting and counseling are both deeply meaningful and nourishing to me.
