Gorge Wind Forecast

Offshore high pressure continues the string of westerlies for three more days. For Monday, gradients start at .08 and .09. That’s plenty for you to load up your car. Expect early wind at 17-21+ west of Hood River and east of Doug’s with 10-13 in the central Gorge. By late morning, we’ll have gusty 14-17 in the cloudy western Gorge with 25-29 from The Dalles to Boardman. River flow is 63,300cfs, temp is 60, and high temp forecast is 61.

Tuesday sees a weak low approach the coast. Westerlies drop in response. Expect 8-11 from Viento to The Dalles in the morning. After noon, westerlies level out at 12-15 from Stevenson to The Dalles. High temp: 61. Offshore high pressure strengthens on Wednesday. Morning wind starts at 14-17 from Viento to Arlington. Afternoon wind drops to 11-4 in the west and picks up to 27-30 from Doug’s to Boardman. High temp: 54.

Coast (north/central/south, waves. Direction north unless otherwise noted. Swell forecast from NWS.) Monday: NW10-15/N15-20/30-40, NW swell 6′ @ 8 seconds. Tuesday: LTV/LTV/N25-30, NW 6′ @ 9. Wednesday: 20-25/10-20?/30-35, NW 7′ @ 9. Jones Monday: 11-14. Tuesday: light. Wednesday: 11-14. Sauvie’s Monday: NW10. Tuesday: light. Wednesday: light.  

Hood River Weather Forecast

Mostly cloudy sky Monday picks up scattered drizzle. Temps will be in the upper 50’s early and low 60’s the rest of the day. Moderate westerlies. 95% chance of rainbows. Tuesday starts with a partial Nothing, turns clear, and then becomes overcast. Temps will be in the mid 40’s early and low 60’s later. Light to moderate westerlies. No rainbows. Wednesday looks mostly cloudy with scattered drizzle. Temps will be in the low 40’s early and mid 50’s later. 10/15: Motorized us is open on ALL Hood River County Land now. Kreps lands have reopened per their FB page. Hood River County lands have reopened. 0.8” rain fell on Saturday, 10/10 in Hood River. Mt. Hood National Forest: some areas have reopened. Expect many downed trees. Check their website for details. Syncline/Coyote Wall: reopened. SDS and BLC lands: open. Snow fell on trails above 5000′ on Saturday night, but that should be washed away by Tuesday afternoon.

Local Events

Weekly events: The Kainos Coffee run happens in The Dalles every Tuesday morning at 6am. There are sailboat races at the Hood River Marina every Wednesday evening. Dirty Fingers has a group mountain bike ride Thursday nights at 5:30pm. The small boat group has a friendly and distanced paddle on, I believe, Thursday nights. Cheno has an outdoor HIIT workout at Griffin House in Hood River at 6pm on Wednesday nights. It appears there is also some sort of sailboat regatta every Friday night. That’s pretty much it for outdoor sports. There is a BLM rally every Tuesday evening at 5:30 at the Salmon Fountain in Hood River, and there’s a White Coats for BLM rally every Wednesday evening at 6pm at 12th and May.   Have an awesome day!
