Good morning!

First off this morning, a reminder that Hood River Chiropractic and Wellness is a sponsor of this report. I finally had an opportunity (if you can call being in pain an opportunity) to check out Dr. Alex’s technique yesterday. He pretty much rocks, so I suggest you swing by for a visit if you’re in need.

Also, tonight is the Backcountry Film Festival at Springhouse Cellars, benefiting Next Door, Inc. You like snow, you like giving money to a good cause, so you should go. Tickets available at the door, assuming they aren’t sold out. $10. 6:30pm.

It should be pretty good skiing today, if not good working conditions. =) We’ll start off with stormy weather on Mt. Hood, with plenty of orographic snow flurries this morning, becoming clear by midday. Wind will be NW 30-40 early, backing to NW 25-30 at 10am, 15-20 1pm and going to strong N wind overnight. The freezing level will be at the surface at 4am (it’s snowing in Parkdale as I write this forecast on the bus), rising to 500′ this afternoon. Total snow accumulation will be an inch or two, not more.

Tomorrow starts off clear with the freezing level at the surface, with temps rising to 28-30 between 5000′ and 10000′ in the afternoon. Wind will be N 20-30 early, switching to NE 15-20 midday and swinging more to the E in the afternoon/evening. No precip.

Thursday looks sunny and warm, with the freezing level at 10,000-11,000′ all day. Wind will be light and variable in the morning, going to SW 20-25 midday and SW 30-35 in the afternoon. We may see high overcast skies by afternoon. No precip.

Friday starts off with either clear skies or thin high overcast. The freezing level will be 10,000′ early, dropping to 8000′ by 1pm, 6000′ by 4pm and 4000′ by 7pm. Wind will be SW 25-30 early, going to SW 40 by 10am and SW 45-55 by 1pm, and then holding. We’ll see precip start around 4pm, likely as wet snow, for .4-.5” water value by Saturday morning with 4-5” of new snow.

At this point, both Saturday and Sunday look snowy with SW wind in the 30-40 range.

Windsurfers will enjoy strong east wind on Thursday morning along with west wind in the 17-20 range near Hood River today with 22-26 east of Hood River.

Have a great day today!
