This week’s forecast is brought to you by Crossfit Hood River and their upcoming standup paddle series taught by the SUP fitness queen, Nikki Gregg. Now, you’re probably wondering why Crossfit (a gym, kinda) is sponsoring a report related to a website called ‘The Gorge is my gym’. Well, Crossfit will kick your a** into shape faster than anything else (you basically have a personal coach), leaving you more ready to tackle Mother Nature’s gym. Crossfit Hood River Sport Clinics: SUP series will get you SUP’ers into great shape too. The clinic runs 7/18,7/25,8/8,8/15 and is $155 for the series. You can sign up by calling 541-490-0939. And yes, we’re giving something away on the email list, but we’re not sure what yet. Stay tuned…
First off, guys and gals, I need your help. Please go to the Native Eyewear Facebook Page and vote for me. Do it now, before you forget, ask your friends to vote for me, and thank you!
Today’s the beginning of the qualifying rounds for this weekend’s RoShamThrowDown kiteboarding contest at the Marina, and as usual when there’s a windsport contest, the wind’s not cooperating this morning. We’ll see 10-15 near Hood River early, picking up this afternoon to the 16-19 range from Hood River east to Maryhill. Keep an eye out for thunderstorms this afternoon, because they may ruin the wind quality.
The Clymb: free membership.
Access to super cheap gear including Trew, Zeal, Sierra Designs, and many more.
Tomorrow brings a similar setup with low pressure off the coast limiting wind speed. The wind will be light, maybe nothing at all early, picking up to 17-20 in the afternoon from Hood River to The Dalles.
Friday looks very light, with wind in the 5-10 range in the morning and 10-15 range in the afternoon.
I’d like to point out that this is the weather system all wind Johnnies dread. We have one upper level low off the coast now, and that will be followed by another. This is, other than just-plain-hot, the worst setup for wind in the Gorge.
At least it’s cool out, so the road biking is good right now.
Tonight is hump night, and that means it’s Post and Pinot night, with a super crew of super enthusiastic gals ready to welcome you and your bike and your mountain biking self to Dirty Fingers. All gals are welcome, and the ride leaves the shop at 5:30, followed by wine from Naked Winery.
If the estro-fest frightens you, head to Dirty Fingers tomorrow for the co-ed hammerfest manly ride, where topics of conversation include beer, bikes and well, other stuff that starts with the letter b.
Coming up this weekend, it’s the Ro-Sham Throwdown kiteboarding contest at the Hood River Marina. Mark out your patch of sand now with a big beach blanket and shade umbrella and make plans to check it out.
Have an awesome day today!
