Mt. Hood Snow Forecast
It was raining on Mt. Hood this morning, but that rain should switch to snow before stopping by early afternoon. That said, there won’t be any accumulation at ski area base elevations. The snow level will be around 6000′ early and 3000′ in the afternoon, dropping down to 1500′ or so tonight. We’ll just see an additional .1-.2” water value mixed snow and rain this morning before the sun comes out. Wind will be W 35 early, W 25 in the afternoon, and NW 20 overnight.

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast, continued
Monday starts with high clouds and stays cloudy all day, possibly turning partly cloudy overnight. The clouds might drop a few sprinkles in the evening, and then again, they may not. The snow level will be 1500′ early, rising to 6500′ in the evening. Wind Monday will be NW 2025 all day, dropping to WNW 10 after midnight.
Tuesday looks partly cloudy early and cloudy by the afternoon. Some sprinkles will fall starting around 8pm. The snow level will be 6000′ early and 10,000′ in the evening. Just 1/10” to 1/5” of rain will fall overnight. Wind Tuesday will be in the W/NW 10-15 range all day and all night.
Wednesday looks warm and sunny with the free air freezing level around 12,000′. Thursday also looks warm and sunny, but high clouds may move in during the afternoon.

Gorge Wind Forecast
The clouds are whipping past my window this morning and the trees are dancing in the wind. As a cold front shifts east of the Cascades today and weak high pressure builds off the coast, the wind will pick up and steady out. Expect 12-15 this morning through the entire Gorge. East of the low clouds this afternoon, probably east of Mosier, but that’s a guess, the wind will pick up to 25-29. Under the clouds, you can expect gusty W 21-25. River flow is 328kcfs and river temp is 50 degrees. Forecast high today is 58 degrees.
Monday starts out with light westerlies, 5-10mph or so, under a weak ridge of high pressure. A weak weather system approaches in the afternoon and bumps up the wind. You can expect gusty 18-22 by 2pm, continuing through the evening, from Stevenson to Arlington.
Tuesday starts off with light west wind at 10mph or less. The wind will pick up in the afternoon to 10-13 through the whole Gorge. Wednesday currently looks like light E wind, and Thursday looks light in the morning with moderate westerlies in the afternoon, but that’s a long ways out to be making a prediction!

Gorge Weather Forecast
It’s mostly cloudy out there this morning as a weather system makes its way east. Don’t worry – we’ll have sun this afternoon. Temps will be in the low 50’s early and the upper 50’s in the afternoon. Strong westerlies by afternoon. 14% chance of rainbows early in the day. Monday looks high overcast with thicker clouds in the afternoon. There’s a slight chance of a few sprinkles late. Temps will be in the low 40’s early and the upper 50’s in the afternoon. Tuesday also looks high overcast with a chance of sprinkles late. Temps will be in the mid 40’s early and the upper 60’s in the afternoon. Wednesday and Thursday are currently forecast to be 80 degrees!

Road and Mountain Biking
We had about .1” rain overnight, which is going to be enough to make Post slick this morning. Give it until the afternoon to dry out. In road biking news, it’s going to get increasingly windy today, so it’s probably not the day to ride something that runs E-W. If you’re planning ahead, Wednesday looks like 80 degrees with light wind.
Upcoming Events
Today’s events include the last day of the Overlook Film Festival at Timberline and the last day of the Mountain Film Festival at the Skylight theatre in Hood River. Mt. Hood Meadows hosts the Rams’ Head Randonee race today, the final race of the Wy-East Ski-mo series. The Bear Springs Trap mountain bike race is today at McCubbins Gulch.
There are three free yoga classes today: 9am at Samadhi in White Salmon, 4pm YogaFaith at Pure Yoga in The Dalles, and 6pm at Pure Yoga in Hood River.
Next weekend brings a kids fishing clinic at Mayer State Park on Saturday, and theoretically, if the snow is gone, the Dog River Super D mountain bike race.
