In a surprising twist, it’s 32 degrees and misting at 5000′ this morning. I scoured the weather models, and the didn’t predict this one at all. This morning’s sounding model predicts a snow level of 2500′. This morning’s 850mb model suggests a snow level of 4000′ There’s nothing out there suggesting mist. That makes me sad, because I’m sure some of you planned your week around skiing today, because it was supposed to be cool-enough and sunny. Anyway, I guess the snow level / freezing level will be right around 5000′ today, despite whatever the models are saying. We’ll see trace amounts of precip which should end by 11am, leaving us with sunshine. Wind will be W 15 early, turning to NW 15 after 11am. Continued after the chart.

Gorge Wind Forecast
There’s no wind at all on this Wednesday morning. As this weather system moves through, we’ll see the wind pick up to W 13-16 this afternoon from Steven’s Locks out to the eastern Gorge. Thursday starts off light and variable and picks up to E 40-50 at Rooster in the afternoon with 25-30 at Steven’s Locks. It looks relatively warm and sunny on Thursday afternoon, so you may find yourself on the water… Friday starts off chilly with E 40-50 and backs off to E 15-20 in the afternoon. The weekend doesn’t look very windy at all.

Light to moderate west wind. 3% chance of rainbows. Thursday may start off with some low clouds, but should be sunny by afternoon. Temps will be in the low 30’s early and the mid 50’s in the afternoon. East wind. No rainbows. Friday looks EXACTLY like Thursday. We may see some sprinkles on the weekend.

White Sprinter Van of the Day
Road and Mountain Biking
The trails are too muddy to ride, with the possible exception of Maui and Moab. But wait, my little friends. The next three days look dry, so we should have shreddable dirt to match our shreddable snow by Friday! Out on the roads, this afternoon looks good: sunshine and light wind. Strong easterlies on Thursday and Friday will impact your road riding, but sunshine will counteract the influence of the east wind on your fun factor.
Upcoming Events
It’s Wednesday, and today’s fun events include community meditation at 8:15am at Flow Yoga and community Hatha Yoga at 8:30am at the Heartgate Sanctuary in Oak Grove. There’s ping pong tonight at 5pm at the Hood River Armory and there’s Aikido at 6pm at Trinity Natural Medicine.
Have an awesome day today!
