Good morning!

Cloudy skies on Mt. Hood this morning will give way to stormy weather by 10am. The snow level, around 5500′ as of 5am, will drop to 2000′ by 7am, 1000′ by 1pm and 500′ by 4pm. Wind today will be WSW 45-50 early, holding through much of the day, and swinging to WNW 35-45 sometime early afternoon. Total precip today will be .9” between 10am and 4pm, for 10-12” of new snow, followed by another .1-.2” after 4pm, for another couple inches by Tuesday morning.

Skies will start clearing Tuesday morning, becoming clear by 1pm, at the latest, for a bluebird day on Mt. Hood. The freezing level will be at the surface early, rising to 500′ by 10am. Wind will be NW 30-35+ early, swinging to the north and backing off during the day, and then switching to NW 15-20 in the afternoon.

Wednesday looks clear, with high pressure building and temps rising. The freezing level will be at the surface early, rising to 1000′ by 1pm and 7000′ by 7pm. Mt. Hood gets strong north wind in the morning, swinging to NE 15-20 midday and holding through the evening.

Thursday sees a big inversion build with clear skies and light SE wind in the morning. Wind will swing to S 20-25 midday and SW 25-30 in the afternoon. Temps rise in the afternoon, with the free air freezing level at 10,000′ by 10am and 11,000′ by 4pm.

Windsurfers and kiters get 23-26 in the eastern Gorge today and strong east wind in the western Gorge on Thursday.
