Good morning!
Yuck. The freezing level, currently around 5500′, will rise to 8500′ this afternoon with continuing rain/freezing rain showers. We may see some clearing mixed in with the showers after 1pm. Wind will be WNW 30-35 early, 25-30 by 1pm and 15-20 in the evening. Total precip will be .1-.2” of rain.
Sunday starts off clear or with high overcast and filtered sun, with clouds moving in during the afternoon. The freezing level will be 7000′ early, dipping to 6000′ midday and rising to 9000′ in the afternoon. Wind will be SW 15-20 early and 20-25 in the afternoon. No precip.
Monday morning sees the snow level drop from 8000′ at 1am to 1000′ at 7am, with snow starting sometime around 4am. Wind will be SW 35-45 early, picking up to 45-55, holding through the day, and dropping to SW 35-40 late in the afternoon. Total snowfall will be .4-.7” water value (WV) by 4pm for 5-8” of new, followed by .4-.6” between 4pm Monday and 4am Tuesday for an additional 5-7” of snow.
Tuesday starts off with snow flurries with the snow level less than 500′. Skies will become partly cloudy by midday. Wind will be NW 25-30, swinging more to the north by 10am. Total new snowfall will be less than 1” on Tuesday.
Models have changed for the rest of the week. Instead of showing lots of cold snow, they now show a mix of warm days and cold days.
