Good morning!
Today looks mostly sunny, with the possibility of some high clouds floating in this afternoon from a weak warm front off the coast. No precip today. The freezing level will be less than 1000’ early, rising to 5500’ by 4pm and rising more overnight. Wind will be NNW 15-25 early going to NW 15-25 in the afternoon. There will be a nice inversion over the valleys today.
Tomorrow looks sunny and warm on Mt. Hood. The freezing level will be 8000’ early rising to nearly 10000’ in the afternoon. The wind will be W 10-15 in the morning, going to NW 15-20 in the afternoon.
Monday starts off dry and warm, with the freezing level at 9000’. The freezing level will slowly drop during the day: 7500’ by 1pm, 5500’ by 4pm and 3000’ by 10pm. Precip will start around 4pm, meaning we’re probably going to see a mix of wet snow, freezing rain, and rain before we get any snow. Total precip will be ~.3” water value for 1-2” of new snow, ending by 4am.
Tuesday looks partly cloudy to start, becoming clear, with the freezing level around 1000’. Wind Monday will be NW 20-25 early, going to N 15-20 and then NE10-20 by mid-morning. The rest of the week looks clear and dry.
For you windsurfers and kiters, keep an eye on Wednesday and Thursday for big east wind and sub-freezing temps in the Gorge. You’ll need to be hardcore to get on the water this week!
In mountain biking news, I rode in Post yesterday from the bottom to the top of 8-Track. Skip the lowest sections of the trail and keep heading up. The dirt is 99 percent perfect right now. No, seriously, the riding is really good. Heather rode up to the top of Chorus yesterday, and she reports perfect dirt on the 140, meaning that Borderline is probably great too. That’s what happens when wet winter is on vacation.
