Mt. Hood Weather Forecast


It’s a chilly and sunny Thursday afternoon. Light snowfall Thursday night will be the end of the fresh snow until the next system moves in early next Wednesday. Mountain temps should stay well below freezing for this period, making for excellent groomer skiing and consistent skier-packed powder off piste.

For Thursday, expect sunshine in the morning, clouds midday, and flurries overnight. The snow level near Mt. Hood will be 0′ early, 1000′ in the afternoon, and back to 0′ overnight. Mountain temps will be in the single digits early and teens later. About 0.1” water value (WV) falls tonight, dropping an inch or so of fresh powder. Wind will be W 15 early, SW 15 in the afternoon, and W 10 overnight.

Friday looks clear and sunny all day. The free air freezing level (FAF) will be 0′. Mountain temps will max out in the low 20’s . Wind will be W 10 early and NW 10-15 in the afternoon and night. Saturday: Very similar. Clear sky. 0′ FAF. Wind: NW 15 early, WNW 5 in the afternoon, and light and variable overnight. Sunday: ditto, but colder, with temps in the single digits. Monday: ditto. Temps in the teens. Models suggest we go back into a cold and snowy period starting Wednesday morning.
 

Gorge Wind


Thursday wind starts at 30-35 near Rooster and 15-20 near Stevenson and Viento. The wind will go light at Rooster Rock this afternoon and pick up to 20-25 near Stevenson. Friday looks like E 10-15 to start the day at both Rooster and Stevenson. In the afternoon: light west wind at Rooster and E 20-25 at Stevenson. Saturday brings easterlies at 20-30 early with 35-40 near Rooster in the afternoon and 30-35 near Stevenson. It’s also worth mentioning that there will be coastal and Sauvie’s northerlies on both Saturday and Sunday, should you choose to immerse yourself in the water. Coastal highs will be in the mid 40’s this weekend.

It’s a chilly Nothing Thursday morning, but the Nothing should dissipate, only to be followed by clouds this afternoon and a few flurries. Up to 1/4” of snow will fall in Hood River tonight. Temps will be in the low 20’s early and low to mid 30’s later. East wind. No rainbows. Friday starts with Nothing and black ice and turns clear. Temps will be in the mid 20’s early and mid 30’s later. East wind. No rainbows. Saturday gets and Early Nothing followed by partly cloudy sky. Temps will be in the mid 20’s early and mid 30’s later. East wind. No rainbows. Next “weather”: Tuesday night. Form: snow, most likely.

Road and Mountain Biking

Silly rabbit… it’s not biking season in the Gorge. It’s XC skiing and BC skiing season! Wax those skis with some red and get out and play in the snow!
 

Upcoming Events

There’s by-donation yoga at 8am at Flow. That’s followed by $5Tai Chi at the Hood River Adult Center at 2:30, community yoga at 6pm at Samadhi in White Salmon, and free Tai Chi at Our Savior Church in Bingen at 6. There’s Zumba at Mid-Valley elementary at 6:30. At 7am on Friday, there’s the Kickstand Coffee Run, where jogging or walking 4 miles gets you a free cup of coffee and a donut. There’s a by-donation yoga class at Yoga Samadhi at 4:15 on Friday afternoons.
