Mt. Hood Weather Forecast
Light snowfall on Mt. Hood for Wednesday morning continues on and off through Friday morning. After that, we’ll have about four days of dry weather with sub-freezing temps on the hill. In other words, the snow will maintain its packed powder awesomeness for quite a while!
For Wednesday, expect light snow. The snow level will be at 0′ (but you already knew that from looking out your window, right?). Mountain temps will be in the teens early and low 20’s later. About 0.1” to 0.2” water value (WV) falls during the day, for up to 2” of new. Another 0.1” falls overnight, for another inch of fluffy powder. Wind will be E 20 early at 5000′ (SW 30) at 9000′, slowly turning to SW 15-20 in the afternoon and SW 5-10 overnight.
Thursday starts out clear pre-dawn. Light snow flurries arrive with the sun and continue through Friday morning. Snow level: 0′ early and 2000′ in the afternoon. Mountain temps in the teens early and low to mid 20’s later. About 0.2” WV falls during the day, for 2-3” of new. Another 0.1” WV falls overnight. That’s another inch. Wind will be SW 5-10 early, SW 10-15 in the afternoon, and SW 5-10 after midnight.
Friday starts out with flurries, turns partly cloudy to clear in the afternoon, and stays clear overnight. Snow level 2000′ early and 0′ in the evening and overnight. Mountain temps will be in the mid 20’s all day, dropping into the teens overnight. Precip: just a trace of new snow that falls before 4pm. Wind: SW 5 early, NW 5 in the afternoon, and light and variable overnight. The next several days look dry, clear, and cold. Next system: Tuesday night.
Gorge Wind
East wind at 40-45 on Wednesday morning could pick up briefly as the cold pool becomes more shallow, but the wind will back off this afternoon to 20-25 at both Rooster and Stevenson. Thursday looks like 15-20 near Cascade Locks with 20-25 near Rooster Rock in the morning. Afternoon wind: 15-20 near Stevenson and 5-10 near Rooster. Friday starts with 15-20 near Cascade Locks and 20-25 near Rooster. Afternoon wind will be light and variable near Rooster and 20-25 near Stevenson. Looks like the easterlies will pick back up this weekend.
JONES, SAUVIE’S, COAST: now on vacation for the fall and winter. Will return in spring.

Hood River Weather Forecast
Intermittent light snowfall continues all day Wednesday for 1-2” by Thursday morning. Temps will be in the mid 20’s early and low 30’s later. East wind. No rainbows. Thursday sees the possibility of light snow early, dry weather after noon, and light snowfall overnight. Up to 1/2” falls in the morning and another 1/2” overnight. Temps will be in the low 20’s early and mid 30’s (maybe) later. East wind. No rainbows. Friday looks dry. Temps will be in the low 20’s early. The computer model suggests low 40s’ later, but I just don’t see that happening, as the model also predicts Nothing all day. East wind. No rainbows. The weather looks dry and very cold overnight through Monday. Next snowfall: Tuesday night.
