Mt. Hood Weather Forecast

It’s Monday, and it’s another powder day on the mountain. This is the last big one for a while, so get it! We’ll have sun Tuesday, light snow on Wednesday and additional light snow Thursday. That said, models aren’t quite in agreement about the weather for the second half of the week.

For Monday, expect cold, dry powder on Mt. Hood. The snow level (obviously) is 0′ and will stay there. Temps on the hill will be in the single digits to the teens. About 0.3 to 0.4” water value (WV) falls after day, for 4-5” of fluffy, dry, champagne powder. A trace of snow falls this evening. Wind will be E 20 early, W 5-10 in the afternoon, and light and variable overnight.

Tuesday starts off mostly cloudy, turns clear mid-morning, and turns cloudy with a trace of snow after midnight. The snow level will be 0′. Mountain temps will be in the single digits. Wind will be light and variable early, building to ESE 20 in the afternoon and SE 30 in the afternoon and evening.

Models disagree on Wednesday. Most of them call for a dry and partly cloudy day, or perhaps a few snow flurries. The ECMWF is the outlier, predicting several inches of snow. After that, there continues to be some disagreement in the models, but it does look like the bulk of the precip will be shunted south into California, where, admit it, they do need it more than we do!

Gorge Wind

Tuesday starts with 15-20 near Cascade Locks and 20-25 near Rooster Rock. The wind build to 35-40 at Cascade Locks and 45-50 near Rooster Rock. Wednesday starts with 20-25 near Stevenson and 50-60 near Rooster. The wind backs off to 20-25 in the afternoon.

A trace of snow to 1/2” falls Tuesday night. East wind. No rainbows. Wednesday looks cloudy to start and partly cloudy in the afternoon. Temps will be in the low 20’s early and low to mid 30s’ later. East wind. No rainbows. If the Euro happens to verify, we’ll have snow all day Wednesday.
