Gorge Wind Forecast
It’s Sunday morning, and it’s pretty calm out there – most locations are reading in the less-than-five range with slightly more wind to be found from Viento to Swell. A .03 gradient starting the day will likely give us a very light westerly breeze between Stevenson and Swell all day. East of Hood River, the wind will turn to light easterly this afternoon. High temp: 100. River temp: 70. Flow: 149kcfs.
Portland cools down a couple of degrees on Monday, but the Gorge gets even hotter. This gives us a touch more wind: the current forecast is 11-14 from Viento to Swell early with 5ish at other locations. The wind will climb to 12-15 mid-morning between Stevenson and Mosier and hold there. Late in the afternoon, probably after 5pm, we’ll see 21-24 from Lyle to Doug’s with 15-18 from Stevenson to Swell.
Temps start to drop on Tuesday as marine air makes a slow return to the west side of the state. Tuesday starts with Dawn Patrol in the 23-26 range from Viento to Hood River with 20-23 at Mosier and 13-16 at Stevenson. We’ll see a quick build to 25-28 from Stevenson to Avery with 20-23 at Rufus and 7-10 at Arlington.
Models agree on Wednesday through Friday: very strong west wind each day. The locus of the strongest winds, and the exact top wind speed will vary. That said, you can expect peak averages in the upper 20’s each day with nowhere to go to escape it.
BONUS: Jones: #winning! Sunday: 22-25. Monday: 24-27. Tuesday: 22-25. Sauvie’s Sunday: 10-13 late, if at all. Monday: 11-14. Tuesday: 10-13 late. Coast (north/central/south). Sunday: W5/W5/N10-15, NW swell 4′ at 8 seconds. Monday: W5/W5/N15-20, NW 3′ @ 8. Tuesday: W5/W5/N10-15, NW 3′ @ 8.
Random Morning Thoughts
One of the things I love about being a therapist is that I get to be an outlet for people. So much suffering is caused by people not being able to talk about things that are important to them, things that are often shamed or stigmatized by society.
This can be past trauma, especially sexual trauma, gender identity, sexual orientation, kinks, regrets, remorse, or anything else that a person feels unsafe to vocalize.
The obvious corollary of this is that it’s important to speak your truth, especially if there’s something about that truth that feels shameful. Speaking, of course, doesn’t always mean talking. It can mean giving voice to things through art, poetry, song, dance, or any other form of expression. The important thing is to give expression to that which has been silenced, allowing the suffering to dissipate. May you feel free to be yourself. Have an awesome day.
