Gorge Wind Forecast
It’s a breezy start to the day today, and with temps already at 70 degrees, you might as well get on the water. We’ll have 21-24 from Viento to Mosier through noon or so, with Stevenson joining in by mid-morning. Areas east of Mosier will stay at 10-13 through mid-morning. In the afternoon. We’ll have 18-22 from Stevenson to Mosier with 21-24 from Lyle to Doug’s with 10-13 to Avery and light west wind east of there. There’s a slight chance that instability to the north of the Columbia could affect afternoon wind quality. High temp today: 94. River temp: 70. Current: 121kcfs.
Sunday looks like triple digits and light west wind, but we do have some model disagreement on wind direction in the afternoon. We start the day with 7-10 from Stevenson to Swell. Given the very slight onshore temp gradient, we’ll probably stick with very light west wind in the western Gorge. Areas east of Hood River may see light easterlies tomorrow afternoon, or they may see no wind at all.
A low pressure trough approaching Monday afternoon into Tuesday morning will shake things up. A lot. In a good way. Monday starts with 13-16 from Stevenson to Hood River and picks up to 21-24 from Stevenson to Mosier. High temps will still be at or above 100 for the Gorge Monday. As that trough moves in late, the wind will ramp up overnight.
This leads to a four-day stretch (at least) of very strong west wind, assuming the models are correct about the rest of the week. We’ll have 27-31 each day, with the strongest wind in the western Gorge for the first half of the week and the near-east or eastern Gorge for the second half of the week. Why the shift? Well, a major miracle happens on Thursday: marine clouds spill all the way to Hood River!
BONUS: Jones Saturday: 20-23. Sunday: 21-24. Monday: 24-27. Sauvie’s Saturday: 11-14. Sunday: 13-16. Monday: 11-14. Coast (north/central/south). Saturday: X/X/20-25, NW swell 5′ at 8 seconds. Sunday: X/X/5-10, NW swell 4′ at 8 seconds. Monday: X/X/10-15, NW 3′ @ 8.
Random Morning Thoughts
One of the things I love about being a therapist is that I get to be an outlet for people. So much suffering is caused by people not being able to talk about things that are important to them, things that are often shamed or stigmatized by society.
This can be past trauma, especially sexual trauma, gender identity, sexual orientation, kinks, regrets, remorse, or anything else that a person feels unsafe to vocalize.
The obvious corollary of this is that it’s important to speak your truth, especially if there’s something about that truth that feels shameful. Speaking, of course, doesn’t always mean talking. It can mean giving voice to things through art, poetry, song, dance, or any other form of expression. The important thing is to give expression to that which has been silenced, allowing the suffering to dissipate. May you feel free to be yourself. Have an awesome day.

Gorge Weather Forecast
It’s clear. Again. Temps will be in the upper 60’s early and mid 90’s later. Moderate west wind. No rainbows. There’s a chance of high clouds and a tiny chance of convection this evening, giving us a 70% chance of a colorful sunset. Saturday looks hot and clear with a few high clouds possible and a wee chance of thunder near Mt. Adams. Temps will be near 60 early and in the mid 90’s later. Light to moderate west wind. No rainbows. Sunday looks wicked hot. Temps will be in the low 60’s early and near 100 in the afternoon. Light west wind may or may not switch to calm or light easterly. No rainbows. Looks like we’ll finally see a cool down next Wednesday. Southerly upper flow Saturday and Sunday may send smoke our way from Cali.
