For almost 30 years, Temira (they/them) has been making the most of what the Gorge has to offer: riding river swell on a foil or windsurf board, carving fresh lines through the snow, and cycling all the gravel and pavement and trails. This is Temira’s playground, their gym… their life’s work. That’s why in 2006, Temira took it upon themselves to create the most accurate, hyper-local weather forecasts possible. Inaccurate predictions had left too many fellow adventurers caught off-guard and in harm’s way. Temira was determined to change that. Today, Temira’s forecasts have become an essential resource for thousands of skiers, snowboarders, wind sports enthusiasts and travelers through the Gorge. With their guidance, you can plan ahead, time your sessions perfectly, and stay safer on the water, snow, and trails. But the story doesn’t end there. Temira also authors the TATAS Facebook page – the Gorge’s premier source for microclimate forecasts. When winter storms, extreme heat, or other hazardous conditions (avalanches on SR-14 and I-84, for example!) threaten, this community lifeline becomes a vital resource for locals and visitors alike, helping to keep everyone safe.

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast
Hi skiers and snowboarders! Conditions look pretty awesome on the groom today – look at some of the webcams for an inspiring view of perfect corduroy. Meadows and T-Line are open for you today. Nordic people: no grooming today at either Meadows or Teacup, and there was about 1.5” of fresh atop the groom when I left yesterday midday. Skibowl: Tubing opens on the 29th! Weather-wise, we’ll see a few flurries today, and then we head into what looks like a long, dry, warm stretch on the mountain. There are some ensemble members (20-25%) calling for precip this weekend, but most of them keep the mountain dry, sunny, and relatively warm.
While it might be cloudy in areas of the lowlands this morning, it’s sunny as can be on the slopes. Blue sky sticks around all day. The free air freezing level will be 2000′ this morning, 2500′ this afternoon, and down around 1500′ overnight. Temps start near 20F and rise to the upper 20s. Wind slowly builds to NW 15-20 this afternoon and turns to W 15 overnight. Snow conditions: a mix of hardpack and packed powder groom that looks simply spectacular. Not much changes between today and tomorrow. Temps will be a little colder tomorrow, but it’ll still be sunny with excellent groom and relatively light wind.
Thanksgiving day looks like another great day to ski. Dry weather with sun in the morning and passing high clouds later. Temps will hover in the upper 20s after a cooler start thanks to radiational cooling. Wind: light and variable. Snow: excellent hardpack groom. Copy and past that and add 10-20mph wind for Friday.
Models suggest an inversion will develop over the weekend. Temps rise above freezing on the slopes. Generally speaking, inversions give us light wind and sunshine. It’ll take some time, but the snow is likely to start transitioning towards granular conditions. With the inversion in place, the lower slopes of the resorts and the Nordic areas are likely to be much colder, at least until the inversion breaks in the afternoon. All that said, about 20-25% of the ensemble members bring in some light drizzle over the weekend. 75% keep it dry and warm.
Looking deeper into the future, models keep things too warm for snow for 10-14 days. Most of that time, most of the ensemble members keep things dry. If this forecast holds, we’re looking at spring conditions by sometime next week. In the meantime, get up there and ride this fantastic early season snowpack!
Gorge Wind Forecast
Hi friends! If reality outperforms the models today, you’ll have a shot at just enough west wind to get you on the water somewhere. Wednesday brings lighter westerlies followed by a switch to light easterlies Thursday and Friday. While there’s still some range in the forecasts for the weekend, there is at least a chance of Saturday, Sunday, and Monday providing easterlies near or above 30mph. Tuesday, however, will be a westerly day. We start off light, with the wind under 5mph everywhere. While models aren’t all that optimistic, they do offer up a chance of 14-17 from Stevenson to Mosier midday with the Lyle-Avery zone joining in the afternoon. Between Swell and Hood River, at least some clouds stick around all day. Models are not optimistic, and keep that zone at 10-13 or so. Maybe, just maybe the Hatch will beat it? River flow over the last 24 hours was 78-134kcfs, river temp is 50.9F, and high temp forecast is just 48F, for a total under 100F.
Wednesday starts with light westerlies. From Lyle to Avery, we could see a few hours of 14-17mph mid-morning to early afternoon. Before and after that and everywhere else: 10-13mph or less. High temp: 47F under clearing sky. Thursday: even less! Calm wind to start, E 15 at Iwash (Rooster) and Stevenson midday, and calm in the afternoon. Friday looks similar. There’s still some range in the weekend forecast, but Saturday, Sunday, and Monday all look like east wind days, potentially pushing 30mph all three days. It’s way too far out to make a precise forecast, but do keep an eye on it if you’re looking for some time on the river. Have a great day today!

Cycling Update
It’s wet and muddy out there. Please don’t ride, or you’ll do significant trail damage. Then peeps have to fix your mess rather than building new trails. Nobody wants that! Everyone wants new trails. Be a good steward, and pick a different activity
Remember: E-bikes are not allowed on USFS non-moto trails. They are allowed on moto trails.
Make Today Awesome!
