Mt. Hood Weather Forecast
Wednesday’s another warm day on Mt. Hood – morning temps were in the 40’s. We’ll see the weather cool by Thursday afternoon and stay that way for a few days. There will be enough snow to turn the slopes white again, but not enough to get you on the slopes.
Wednesday starts partly cloudy over Mt. Hood. High clouds move in during the day, and rain arrives in the evening. The snow level will be 12,000′ in the morning, 10,000′ in the afternoon, and 6500′ overnight. About 0.5” rain is forecast. Wind: SW 10-20 in the morning, SSW 5-15 in the afternoon, and SW 20-35 overnight.
Thursday starts clear. A cold front moves in late morning or early afternoon. This starts as mixed precip and transitions to snow. Snowfall tapers off overnight and leaves the mountain under mostly cloudy sky in the morning. The snow level will be 6500′ early, 5500′ in the afternoon, and 4000′ from the evening on. About 0.9” water equivalent (WE) is forecast during the day. That’ll translate to moderate rain, then mixed precip, then 2-3” snow. A trace of snow falls overnight. Wind: SSW 15-30 in the morning, WSW 30-50 in the afternoon and evening, and SW 15-30 overnight.
Friday looks mostly cloudy, then briefly snowy, then clear, then snowy (?) again overnight. The snow level starts around 4000′, falls to 3000′, and rises again to 5000′ or 5500′ overnight. Daytime snowfall, early in the morning, will be 0.2” WE, for 2” of new. The overnight forecast calls for 0.2” WE as 1-2” of wet snow. Wind: SW 15-30 early build to SW 25-45 around sunrise, W 30 midday, SW 5-10 in the afternoon, S 15-30 in the evening, and SW 25-40 overnight. That’s it for now!
Gorge Wind Forecast
One storm system after another scrambles along the coast. That sends weather systems swinging through the Gorge. As the low pressure systems sit offshore, we’ll have easterlies. When the fronts swing inland, we’ll have westerlies. Let’s look closer:
Wednesday’s an east wind day, all day. Rooster will be 35-40mph all day. Stevenson starts at 20-25 and rises to 25-30. Viento will be 15-20ish all day. River flow is 62,100cfs, river temp is 55F, and high temp forecast is 54F. Thursday starts with E 25-30 at Stevenson and 10-15 at Rooster. The wind turns westerly at gusty 23-27 west of Swell (where it’ll be rainy) and east of The Dalles (where it won’t). the central Gorge is a big maybe for wind; it’s possible it’ll stay light all day. High temp: 56F. Friday kicks off with early rain and then turns dry east of Viento. The wind will be W 15-20 at Rooster early with E 15-25 at Stevenson. Give it an hour of two, and you’ll find gusty 18-23 east of The Dalles with 10-13mph in the western Gorge. After 2pm the wind goes light westerly everywhere. High temp: 52F.

Hood River Weather Forecast
Cloudy weather this morning stays that way and adds rain tonight. Temps will be in the mid 40’s early and mid 50’s later. Light wind. No rainbows. Thursday brings steady moderate rain. Dry weather returns overnight. Temps will be in the low 40’s early and mid 50’s later. Moderate to strong, gusty westerlies. 99% chance of rainbows. Friday will be rainy in the morning and then partly cloudy. Temps will be in the upper 30’s early and low 50’s later. Calm wind early. Light westerlies later. 87% chance of rainbows.

SDS, Kreps, and DNR lands have all reopened. Regulated use closure has ended and motorized use is allowed on moto trails. Be aware of recent snowfall about 4500′ or so and plan your rides accordingly.
