Mt. Hood Snow Forecast There’s no snow in the ski resort forecast for at least the next five days or so, unless you happen to have a ski resort at the 10,000′ elevation in the Cascades. As best I can ascertain, those locations are all Wilderness, so neither you nor I nor anyone else has…

Meet your forecaster: Temira

For almost 30 years, Temira (they/them) has been making the most of the Gorge: riding river swell, shredding powder, and cycling all the gravel and pavement and trails. This is Temira’s playground, their gym… their life’s work.

This passion led Temira to take a vow: In 2006, Temira decided to provide the most accurate, hyper-local weather forecasts possible. Today, Temira’s forecasts have become an essential resource for thousands of skiers, snowboarders, wind sports enthusiasts and Gorge commuters. With Temira’s guidance, you can plan ahead, time your sessions perfectly, and just plain have more fun! But the story doesn’t end there.

There’s “Temira’s Awesome Travel Advisory Service” and “Valuable Advice for Gardeners Inhabiting Neighboring Areas” – the Gorge’s premier microclimate forecast and gardening information. When winter storms, extreme heat, hail, or avalanches on SR-14 and I-84 threaten, TATAS keeps everyone and their tomatoes and giant pumpkins and cash crops safe.

Temira’s relentless efforts keep the forecasts flowing. But it ain’t easy: each forecast takes a couple of hours. That’s where you come in. By contributing, you’re not just supporting Temira’s passion project – you’re investing in the safety and well-being of the entire Gorge community. Your financial support ensures these essential forecasts remain accessible to all, free of charge.

Random Morning Thoughts

I’ve been having a rough time the last couple of days, and in an interesting twist, my cat has been refusing to sleep with me. Cats, I think, are quite sensitive to emotions, just as we humans are. Or should be. So many of us no longer have access to the finer capabilities of our nervous systems.

Even so, I suspect we still pick up the emotional state of others on an unconscious level (or for some of us, quite consciously). This impacts how we interact with others, and conversely, how they interact with us.

If you believe this (as I do), it’s powerful motivation to develop more happiness, lovingness, and equanimity in your heart. People will sense that and be drawn to you. And that will make your social circle more vibrant and loving. You can start this process by simply being kind and compassionate and loving to yourself as well as others. Next thing you know, magic will be happening. Have an awesome day.

Disclaimer required by my grad school program: I am not your therapist (but I could be 51 graduate school credits from now). I am your weather forecaster. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, and consult with your actual therapist about your mental health issues. One other thing: I plan to keep doing this forecast indefinitely, even when I am a therapist.

Gorge Weather Forecast

It’s yet another gloomy morning in the Gorge as high clouds obscure the low-hanging sun. Expect high clouds for much of the day with periods of sun. Rain arrives late tonight, probably around 11pm. Temps will be in the mid 40’s early and upper 50’s this afternoon. Light wind. No rainbows. Thursday and Friday look tricky. With high pressure over the region and very wet ground, it’s likely we’ll start with The Nothing and transition to sunshine. Temps both days will be in the upper 40’s early and the upper 50’s in the afternoon. Light wind. No rainbows. Next chance of rain is late Saturday.

Road and Mountain Biking

I suspect the front side of Syncline is finally dry enough to ride. Post, Hospital, and Whoopdee are likely too wet. The road will be nice today with light east wind. Nice road riding Thursday and Friday too. Remember that there is a work party on the Whoopdee Trail on Sunday.

Upcoming Events

It’s Wednesday morning. There’s community meditation at Flow at 8:15. There’s community yoga at the FISH food bank at 10am. There’s ping pong at the Hood River Armory at 5pm and Zumba at the Parkdale Community Center at 6:30pm.

Coming up this weekend, there’s a work party at Rowena Park on Saturday from 9am to 1pm. Snacks and drinks will be provided. There’s a work party on the Whoopdee trail on Sunday from 9am to 1pm. Don’t forget that we change the clocks on Saturday night. That’ll give you an extra hour of sleep that night. Don’t be early for the work party!

Have an awesome day today!

Temira
