Mt. Hood Weather Forecast
Tuesday is starting out snowy on the mountain with extra-dry powder on the ground. By Tuesday afternoon, we’ll have clear sky that lasts for a few days. Snowfall, heavy snowfall, blessed awesome powder, returns for the weekend.
For Tuesday, light snowfall continues under decreasing clouds. Sunshine arrives by the afternoon. Freezing level: 500′. Snowfall total will be under an inch. Wind will be N 20 during the morning, NW 10 in the afternoon, and NNW 25 overnight.
Wednesday looks clear. The freezing level will be at the surface with mountain temps in the single digits to teens. Wind will be NNW 25 in the morning, N 20 in the afternoon, and W 5 overnight. Thursday sees high clouds move in from an offshore low. Precipitation is unlikely. The snow level will be at the surface with mountain temps in the teens early and low 20’s in the afternoon. Wind: W 5 early, SSW in the afternoon, and SW 10 overnight.
A pattern change kicks off on Friday. Models don’t agree on the exact path of incoming storm systems, but the most likable outcome has a couple feet of super-dry powder falling between Friday evening and Saturday afternoon. Let’s all do our snow dances for that outcome.
Gorge Wind Forecast
The bizarre wind picture continues, as an offshore high combines with inland high pressure for easterlies in the east and westerlies in the west. We’ll have west 10-13 or so from Stevenson to Swell with 5-10 out of the east, east of there. Wednesday starts out the same. In the afternoon, the wind will finally turn easterly near Stevenson and Rooster: 10-15mph. Thursday looks like E 25-30 in the morning near Rooster Rock with 35-40 in the afternoon. Stevenson gets 20-25 early and 30-35 in the afternoon, and Vientiane gets 15-20 or so. Light easterlies continue in other locations along the river.
JONES, SAUVIE’S, COAST: now on vacation for the fall and winter. Will return in spring.

Hood River Weather Forecast
It’s a cloudy morning with a few snow flurries, and that’s the story until the afternoon, when we should see some sun. Temps will be near 30 early and maybe into the mid 30’s later. That’s it for above-freezing temps for a while. Light and variable wind. No rainbows. N o more rainbows for a while either! The forecast for Wednesday and Thursday is for lows in the teens and highs in the low 30’s. Next chance of precip, and it will be in the form of snow, is Friday afternoon.
