Expect clear sky on Thursday. The FAF will be 6000′ early and 12,000′ in the afternoon. Light SW wind in the morning and W wind at 10mph in the afternoon.

Next chance of precipitation is Friday evening… Friday starts off sunny, turns cloudy midday, and sees precip start up early in the evening. As of right now, and this is a long ways out, it looks like we’ll see half an inch of rain on Friday night. Another system is predicted for Saturday morning, and that one is borderline for rain snow.

One thing to point out is that we have a very strong ridge over the top of the Northwest right now. Although the weather models are predicting systems for Friday and Saturday, it’s possible those systems could come in a lot drier than the models are currently predicting. Some other factors do come in to play to suggest we’ll see precip late this week, but take that forecast with a grain of salt.

Random Morning Thoughts

For this paper I wrote this week, I stumbled across an journal article by Allan Schore. The article talked about how the intesubjective field sometimes fails in people who experience overwhelming events (aka trauma). This leaves people feeling utterly alone and disconnected from people around them, even when they are in the presence of people who care.

The intersubjective field, by the way, as best I can discern, is that sense of mind-link you feel when you’re having a deep, connected emotional experience with someone. That feeling, I’m guessing, arises at different frequencies and different levels of connections for each of us.

In service of knowing yourself better, it may be fun to check out under what conditions you find yourself in the intersubjective field. It might be even more interesting to notice what your response is when you feel someone pulling you in to connection. Do you like it and let it happen? Do you tense up and disconnect? Do you not have any idea what the heck I’m talking about? (That’s okay – I was in that boat too!)

It is, I think, natural for our minds to connect with other minds. It’s sounds all X-Files, but it’s really just neurobiology. We are built to receive neuroregulation from our caregivers – that’s how we learn to regulate our emotions. We continue to have this ability as adults. The intersubjective field is the means by which this happens. Someday we’ll be able to see it and measure it. But not yet. All we can do at this point is notice it and play with it. Your mind is a toy better than any money can purchase. Take advantage of your built-in playground, and explore it fully. Have an awesome day.

Gorge Weather Forecast

I stepped outside to look at the weather, and despite it being frigid out there, it’s awesome! Clear sky. Oh man is it going to be a spectacular mid-winter day! Temps will be in the low30’s early and the upper 40’s this afternoon. It’s possible we’ll see some high clouds later, but we’ll see a lot of sun too. East wind. No rainbows.

Wednesday will probably see high clouds for much of the day, but filtered sun is equally likely. Temps will be in the low 30’s early and the low 50’s in the afternoon. East wind. No rainbows. Thursday looks sunny. Temps will be in the mid 30’s early and the mid 50’s in the afternoon. East wind. No rainbows. Next chance for rain is Friday night.

Road and Mountain Biking

I dunno what the trails were like yesterday, but I’m betting they’ll be pretty awesome today. Judging from yesterday’s Strava rides, road riding is all the rage right now. So, maybe Post needs another day to dry out? Anyway, I’m sure you’ll find epic dirt at Syncline and Hospital. Not so sure about Whoopdee and Post. Everything else is buried, sorry, except the Gorge 400 which has a bunch of trees down in the last half mile.

Upcoming Events

Coming up this evening, there’s pickup touch rugby at 5pm at the ballfields next to Jackson Park, there’s Zumba at 6:30 at the Parkdale Community Center, and there’s meditation with the monks from Pacific Hermitage and 25-30 of your best friends at Yoga Samadhi at 6:30pm. There’s also $12 Prime Rib at Cebu from 5pm to 9pm.

Coming up Wednesday morning, there’s community meditation at Flow at 8:15am, and there’s a community Hatha Yoga class at the Heartgate Sanctuary in Oak Grove at 8:30am (new later time!). There’s ping pong at the Hood River armory at 5pm, and there’s Aikido at Trinity Natural Medicine at 6pm.

Have an awesome day today!
