Mt. Hood Snow Forecast, continued
Thursday brings clouds in the morning and partly to mostly cloudy sky in the afternoon with a chance of sprinkles or snow mixed with sprinkles for most of the day. The snow level will be 6500′ during the day, 6000′ in the evening, and 5500′ after midnight. Trace amounts of precip will fall during the daylight hours with .2” water value (WV) of wet snow overnight (or maybe rain) for an inch or so of new snow. Wind on Thursday will be SSW 20 for most of the day, SW 20 in the evening, and S 15 after midnight.
Friday also looks rainy, although that rain may be mixed with wet snow in the morning. The snow level will be 5500′ early, 6500′ in the afternoon and evening, and 1500′ after the system passes after midnight. Around .4-.6” WV falls between 5am and 5pm, mostly as rain, for 1/2” rain. Another .4” WV or so falls overnight, and that will probably end with a trace to an inch of new snow. Wind on Friday will be S 15 early, quickly building to SSW 20 in the morning and SW 30 in the afternoon. The wind will turn to W 25 after midnight.
As of right now, Saturday looks cloudy with heavy snow in the evening. Sunday starts off with some light snow, turns clear, and then becomes snowy again in the evening.

Gorge Wind Forecast
It’s Tuesday morning, and there’s a nice easterly breeze at Iwash (Rooster) Rock. Expect easterlies at 30mph or so there this morning with 20-25 at Steven’s Locks. The wind will fade to nothing this afternoon. Wednesday starts off with light easterlies. As a warm front exits the area and a cold front approaches (all these dynamics are bad for wind quality) in the afternoon, we’ll see W 10-13 from Steven’s Locks to Doug’s and gusty, up-and-down 22-25 from The Dalles eastward. Thursday starts off with E 15-20. In the afternoon, the wind will switch to westerly, giving us 5-10 in the western Gorge and gusty 20-23 east of The Dalles with a chance of thunderstorms. River temp is 45 degrees, and flow today is 427 kcfs at The Dalles, still too much for the Maryhill section of river.

Speaking of time management… I need to get off to work. Have an awesome day!
Disclaimer required by my grad school program: I am not your therapist (but I could be 40 graduate school credits from now). I am your weather forecaster. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, and consult with your actual therapist about your mental health issues. One other thing: I plan to keep doing this forecast indefinitely, even when I am a therapist.

White Sprinter Van of the Day
Road and Mountain Biking
Syncline is good. Hospital Hill is good. Whoopdee is now open, and there is a work party on Sunday at 9:30 at the Whoopdee parking lot. Columbia Hills and Easy CLIMB are good to go. I’ve heard rumors that Post is open from Lower 8 Track and Mitchell Ridge down. Above that, there is tons of downed trees and snow. There’s lots of good road biking and gravel grinding to be had right now, especially with light wind over the next three days.
Upcoming Events
It’s Tuesday. There’s free yoga at Flow at 4:30 and at HAVEN (Strong Women Yoga) in The Dalles at 5. There’s pickup touch rugby at 5 at the Hood River Marina Park. There’s $12 Prime Rib at Cebu tonight from 5pm to 9pm. At 6:30 this evening, there’s meditation at Yoga Samadhi led the monks from Pacific Hermitage. This remains, and most likely always will, my favorite activity of the week.
Looking at next weekend, Saturday is the Fred Meyer fuschia sale and a half-day meditation retreat at Yoga Samadi. The Mosier School is hosting the RWJ Health Prize celebration on Saturday. There’s an interpretive hike at the Trout Lake Marsh on Sunday, and there’s a work party on the Whoopdee Trail Sunday.
Have an awesome day today!
