Mt. Hood Weather Forecast
Too-warm-for-snow weather continues on Mt. Hood for the next several days. About 2.0” of rain has already fallen on the slopes, and around 4” more is forecast. After that, we move into a colder period, but there doesn’t seem to be all that much snow in the forecast.
Let’s look at Thursday. Temps are in the low 40’s at 5000′, and the pineapple weather icon has appeared on the Meadows website. The snow level will bounce between 9500′ and 10,000′ today. About 1.7” rain is forecast during the day. Rainfall backs off overnight, and just a trace accumulates. Wind will be NW 30 early, W 30 midday, and WSW 30-40 from early afternoon on through the night.
Friday will be quite rainy. In the evening, the rain stops, and the sky may even clear. Temps won’t drop much. The snow level will be 10,500′ in the morning and will only fall to 9000′ by Saturday morning. About 2.0” rain is forecast during the day. That’s followed by a quick 0.6” more before the rain stops. Wind: WSW 35-40 in the morning, W 20-25 in the afternoon, and NW 20-30 overnight.
Saturday starts clear. High clouds arrive by late morning, and a wee bit of drizzle falls overnight. The snow level will be 9000′ early and will rise to 10,000′ in the afternoon. Total rain: nothing during the day and 0.1” overnight. Wind: NW 20-30 early, W 10 mid morning, SW 10-15 in the afternoon, and WSW 25-35 overnight. Clouds, warmth (snow level 12,000′), and a trace of rain are forecast for Sunday. The next system arrives Monday night and falls as rain with perhaps an inch of snow at the end. Cooler weather is forecast for the middle of next week with light snow showers.

Cycling
Significant rain in the last week means most trails are muddy. Please don’t ride them. If you do, you’ll be doing significant and possibly permanent damage. Also note: it’s been snowing above 2000′, so higher elevation trails may have significant snowfall. Be prepared if you’re heading up high.
