Thursday. Magical sunny St. Paddy’s Day!

DSC_4523
It doesn’t look snowy on Mt. Hood for this St. Patrick’s Day. Instead, it looks the opposite: Sunny! Expect sunshine all day today. The free air freezing level will be down at the surface early, rising to 3000′ this afternoon. The wind will be light and variable all day long. Continued after the chart.

Mt. Hood Snow Forecast, continued…

Friday also looks delightfully sunny. The free air freezing level will be down near the surface early, rising to 10,000′ sometime during the day, and perhaps dropping to 9000′ overnight. Wind on Friday will be light and variable in the morning and SW 10-15 in the afternoon and evening.

Looking ahead to the weekend… Saturday looks partly cloudy all day long, with low and mid-level clouds possibly driving some occasional fog patches on the mountain. We may see some light sprinkles in the late afternoon and evening. The free air freezing level will be 9000′ for much of the day, dropping to 6500′ after midnight. Wind on Saturday will be SW 10-15 in the morning and SSW 15 overnight.

As of this morning, Sunday looks like it’ll bring some precip midday. However, it’s tough to tell at this point whether we’ll receive rain or snow on Sunday. For now, let’s call it .4” water value of mixed precip between 11am and 11pm. Wind on Sunday will be SW 10 early and WSW 35-40 late in the evening. Just a reminder that this weekend is the last weekend of night skiing this season at Meadows.

Random Morning Thoughts

What a glorious day it is out there! In celebration of this day and the start of spring break, the random morning thoughts have decided to take spring break off. They will return at the beginning of April, or sooner if they feel rested. Instead of spending time reflecting, the random morning thoughts will be spending time gardening and mountain biking and skiing and road biking. They’ll probably also spend time meditating and hanging out with friends. So, happy spring break. I hope you enjoy it as much as I’m going to!

Road and Mountain Biking

I’m guessing Post is still a little too wet, and so is Whoopdee, but I’m also guessing that Syncline is going to be off the charts today. The road biking will be very chilly this morning and quite east-windy this afternoon, but it’s hard to resist mid-50’s and sunshine. East wind and sunshine continues tomorrow. Saturday looks partly cloudy with light wind and temps in the upper 50’s.
