Thursday: hot, then wild!

Thank you for using this forecast. Like it? Find it useful? Support it (and me!) by sending some cash my way. Why should you keep doing this when you’re under a stay-at-home order? Because my bills don’t stop – I hope you’ll consider contributing even though the world has ground to a standstill. That’ll keep the forecast going through this crisis, and it’ll mean the forecast is here when we all emerge from our homes. What’s it cost to support me and get the email version? Not $99 a year. Nope. Not $49. Just $19.99 or more gets you a year. Click below to contribute. Thank you!!

Gorge Wind Forecast

Oregon and Washington are encouraging people to not travel more than 50mph to access recreation, and all land managers and law enforcement are carefully watching to see if people maintain social distancing. If crowding happens, water access will be revoked. If you are local and lucky enough to have water access in your community, please do this: rig, play, leave. Recreate and go home. That’ll help limit the spread of Novel Coronavirus. If you live in a place that’s still under a stay at home order, stay home – follow the guidance of where you live, not where you want to go.

Not much happens for wind in the Gorge over the next few days as high pressure settles over the region like a blanket of spring pollen. It’ll be great weather for flat water anything, including taking out your giant unicorn-rainbow floaty. Wednesday: light and variable wind. Thursday: calm wind in most locations in the morning. E 10-15 midday from Stevenson to Viento. Calm wind mid afternoon. Light westerlies after 8pm. Friday: calm. Saturday: west wind at 30-40+, possibly tempered by thunderstorms. Stay tuned for more details.

Sauvie Island Wednesday: 12-15. Thursday: 15-18. Friday: 20-23. Coast forecast: still on vacation due to unknown beach access and no time to look it up this morning. You’re still under a non-essential travel ban, most likely, anyway!
