It’s fall now, and that means it’s time for … more windsurfing and kiting! No, silly. It’s time to think about skiing.

Kayak Polo kept me out very late last night!
Cool local business – please support them!
There are some businesses that are just plain awesome. Dirt Hugger is one. Too much food waste at your business or municipality? Dirt Hugger will take it away! All that food waste becomes food-for-your-garden compost. Temira’s guerilla garden agrees: Dirt Hugger compost is the best! Pick it up or have it delivered. Call them today, and make your garden happy with a winter layer of compost: 541.9four6.347eight.
Wind guessings, prognosticatings and musings
So after adjusting the Stevenson forecast based on hindcasting using the Stevenson meter, I was informed yesterday that the Stevenson sensor hasn’t been working all that well. Given that piece of information, I’m saying 25-29 today at Rooster and 22-25 at Stevenson, fading in the afternoon. We’ll see light east wind (less that 15mph) both Friday and Saturday.
Sunday, however, is shaping up to hold some westerly potential. High pressure off the coast combines with a cold, dry weather system dropping in on the east side for (oh please don’t let this spoil it) 26-30+ through the whole Gorge.

Plain old weather
It’s lovely weather. Something different could happen Sunday.
Biking
Tonight at the Skylight Theatre, there’s a TGR ski movie. $10. 6pm all ages. 8pm 21 & over. Sammy Carlson will be there, and there’s a great raffle supporting the Hood River Valley Freestyle Ski Team. While you’re there, say hi to the nice folks from Mt. Hood Meadows and get your pass photo taken. Meadows will be at Double Mountain taking photos tonight too.
On Saturday, as I mentioned before, the HRATS have a big work party in Post Canyon. They’ll be doing repairs and improvements to Family Man, 8-Track, GP, and a new section of the 130 quad trail. Other folks, me included, will be in Portland at the AMS winter weather conference.
You runners, joggers, and walkers have three events on Saturday: The Parkdale fun run/walk (benefiting Parkdale PTO), the Harvest Hustle 5k/10 (Odell, benefiting Mid-Valley Elementary), and the Pumpkin Trail Run 5k in North Bonneville.
On Sunday, it’s the Columbia Gorge Marathon. Also Sunday, Dirty Fingers has an “I hate Cancer” ride at noon, doing the Post n’ Pint lap, followed by a Boobie BBQ (chicken breast and boobie cupcakes). All proceeds benefit, well, they’re going to benefit some local cancer organization.
Have an awesome day today!
