It’s a clear-sky morning on Mt. Hood, and the sun should stay out for much of the day. Clouds move in mid to late afternoon, and a few snow flurries fall after 4pm. The snow level today will be less than 1000′ all day long. We’ll see .1” or so water value (WV) tonight, for an inch or a little bit more new snow. Wind today will be NW 10-15 all day and NW 20 after midnight. Continued after the chart.

See below for details.
Tuesday brings a mix of high clouds and sunshine. The free air freezing level will be at the surface early, rising to 1000′ in the afternoon . Wind will be light and variable all day.
Models aren’t in great agreement on Wednesday. As of this morning, it looks like there will be snow flurries during the day with heavy snow after 10pm. Given the model discrepancies, we really need to wait and see for a day or so. That said, it does look like we have some snow in the forecast this week.

Random Morning Thoughts
I’m thinking a lot about support and acceptance this week. Earlier this week, two professionals whom I trust, respect, and admire stepped forward and said, metaphorically anyway, “We believe in you, Temira.” Wow. What an impact that has had on my world.
This kind of support and acceptance is an important part of parenting, mentoring, and teaching. It’s especially important when working with kids; they tend to incorporate positive or negative messages from others into their self-concept. And this is why mentoring programs such as Big Brothers / Big Sisters and Mentors for Success work so well; it just takes one positive adult influence in a child’s life to give them a sense of self-worth and self-efficacy.
Kids need this kind of support, and so do adults. Yes, you and your grown-up friends can benefit from people saying, “Hey you, you’re awesome!” When you let the people you work with, socialize with, and recreate with know that you believe in them, you increase their confidence and you increase their sense of connection. Although many people feel shy about receiving compliments and support, most people like to be recognized for their strengths and successes.
The need to give support and acceptance to children goes without saying. You don’t need to be a parent to say something supportive to a little kid or a teen. When you’re with a young person, give them some love and props. Do it for grownups too. We all need to feel respected, admired, loved, and supported. The more we do that for others, the more they’ll do it for the people around them. Have an awesome day.

Gorge Weather Forecast
When I stepped outside to check the weather this morning (that’s how REAL meteorologists do it), I saw the moon, the stars, and some clouds. So, it’s partly cloudy. Surprisingly, my parking lot was bare and wet. I suspect that’s not the case everywhere in town – I suspect there’s black ice out there. Anyway, we’ll see partly cloudy sky all day with some showers or snow flurries possible after 4pm, or maybe after midnight. Hard to tell, and it won’t be a lot of precip. Temps will be right around freezing early and in the low 40’s this afternoon. Light west wind. 3% chance of rainbows.
Tomorrow sees intermittent sprinkles, wet snow, sleeet or flurries during the day mixed in with lots of sunshine. Temps will be right around freezing early and in the mid 40’s in the afternoon. Moderate west wind. 68% chance of rainbows.
Tuesday looks like Nothing early and partly cloudy in the afternoon. Temps will be right around freezing early and in the mid 40’s in the afternoon. Light wind early, east wind in the afternoon. No rainbows. Wednesday brings snow flurries early and heavy rain overnight.

White Sprinter Van of the Day
Road and Mountain Biking
Now, this is an interesting twist. It fell below freezing last night, meaning there’s a chance of freeze-thaw conditions, especially above 500′. That means the upper half of Syncline may be freeze-thaw. Even the lower half might be. Keep this in mind if you’re riding, and maybe wait until later in the day when things have had a chance to dry out in the sun. Post is still too wet, so leave it alone. Whoopdee is partially under snow, so it’s a no-go.
