Mt. Hood Weather Forecast


It’s Sunday morning, and it snowed overnight. There’s more snow coming for the next 48 hours, after which we’re looking at a sunny Christmas Day on the hill.

For Sunday, expect storm skiing all day. The snow level will be 3000′ early and 2500′ from afternoon on through the evening. Precip: 0.8” water value (WV) during the day, for 7-9” of snow. Another 0.5” falls overnight, for 5-6” of powder. Widn will be WSW 30 early, W 35 in the afternoon, and W 25 overnight.

Monday also brings snow – just not as much as Sunday. The snow level will be 2500′ early and will fall to 0′ or so overnight. Precip: 0.2” WV during the day, for 2-3” of powder. 0.1” WV overnight, for another inch. Wind Monday will be W 25 in the morning, light and variable in the afternoon, and N 20 overnight.

Tuesday starts out cloudy and turns sunny. Free air freezing level 0′ early, 1500′ in the afternoon, and 0′ overnight. No snow, rain, or anything else. Wind will be N 20 early, NW 15 in the afternoon, and W 15 overnight. Another round of snowfall arrives on Wednesday.
 

Gorge Wind Forecast

Sunday starts off with easterlies at 15-20. Those will fade and turn to light westerlies at 5-10 this afternoon. Monday starts with light easterlies and picks up to E 20-25 in the west and E 10-15 east of Hood River. Tuesday looks light and variable. River flow Sunday morning was 91,500cfs and river temps is 45 degrees.

Gorge Weather Forecast

It’s a cloudy and rainy day in HR, and it will stay that way. Temps will be just above freezing early and in the mid 40’s later. East wind switches to light westerlies int eh afternoon. 79% chance of rainbows. Monday looks cloudy with scattered sprinkles. Temps will be in the upper 30’s early and low 40’s later. East wind. 15% chance of rainbows. Tuesday looks dry and mostly cloudy with sunbreaks in the afternoon. Temps will be in the low to mid 30’s early and low 40’s later. Light and variable wind. No rainbows. Looks like we’re going to get snow early Wednesday.

Road and Mountain Biking

Stay off the trails – it’s too muddy. Even if you have a fat bike. You’re damaging delicate dirt and undoing the hard work of many, many volunteers. Syncline is freeze-thaw, and therefore extremely delicate, above the fence. Please don’t ride it or you’ll do major trail damage. The Power Station has a really wonderful virtual bike setup. I know it’s not the same, but it’s better than damaging the dirt.
 

Upcoming Events

It’s Sunday. There’s by-donation yoga at 9am at Samadhi in White Salmon. There’s all-ages rugby at the Hood River Marina at 11am. There’s ping pong ($5) at the Skamania County Fairgrounds. Monday morning at 7am is the Eggnog Jog at Shortt Supply.
