Mt. Hood Snow Forecast, finished
Wednesday brings a round of rain followed by a trace of snow at the tail end of the weather system. The snow level will be 8000′ in the morning, 5500′ in the afternoon, and 2000′ or less in the evening and overnight. About .5” water value will fall, mostly as rain, between 5am and 5pm. We might see an inch or two of snow at the back end of this system. Wind on Wednesday will be SW 35 in the morning and WSW 40 in the afternoon with W 20 after midnight.
Looking long-range, there’s really no snow in the forecast. The GFS says we get hit with a warm, wet system on Saturday, but the Euro continues to keep the bulk of the moisture to the north of us. Guess we’ll just have to wait and see!
Gorge Wind Forecast
We’ll have west wind at 10-13 through the entire Gorge this morning, fading to E 5-10 this afternoon. The next couple of days bring light and variable wind at 5mph or less.

Random Morning Thoughts
I ran into a friend of mine on the Twin Tunnels yesterday while I was jogging, and turned around and joined him for the last couple of miles back to the car. At one point he asked me what I thought about while I was running. He thinks about technique. I was thinking about how miserable I was trying to run a pace two minutes per mile faster than my usual pace.
When we’re doing something and we add negative or painful self-talk to our activity, we make it more difficult. This self-talk can almost be below the level of consciousness; a quiet mantra of “this hurts, this hurts” will make whatever it is hurt more.
Often, we don’t even make space to actually feel into our physicality to see if we’re actually hurting. We just make the assumption that we’re breathing hard and that our legs or lungs must be in pain. If we can feel underneath our stories, we often find a very different reality below the words and thoughts.
When we’re able to do this, we free up capacity to go faster, harder, to try new things. It’s just another version of being in the moment, but it’s one that will make your life easier and your athleticism more fully developed. Be awesome. Have an awesome day.
Disclaimer required by my grad school program: I am not your therapist (but I could be 40 graduate school credits from now). I am your weather forecaster. Take everything I say with a grain of salt, and consult with your actual therapist about your mental health issues. One other thing: I plan to keep doing this forecast indefinitely, even when I am a therapist.

White Sprinter Van of the Day
Road and Mountain Biking
Looks like a good morning for a few laps at Syncline. You can also ride to Mosier via the Twin Tunnels if you don’t mind hopping a couple trees and avoiding dirt, rockfall, and snowslides that cover parts of the trail. It’s rideable. Go get it.
